Sonic Cathedral is back

Apologies for the blatant plug, but the last night was such a rip-snorting success that it had its own thread here for a while. With that in mind, dust off your Slowdive records and rescue that long-sleeved T from the bottom of the laundry because it's time for the second Sonic Cathedral. The Engineers play live and Sonic Boom DJs. There's a flyer here - http://members.lycos.co.uk/rockandrollsoul/hpbimg/SONIC%20II%20FLYER.jpg

appearance by AMUSEMENT PARKS ON FIRE, an acoustic set
by former Ride singer/guitarist MARK GARDENER &

Since when were either the Velvets or Ulrich Schnauss "classic shoegazing sounds"?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 09:54 (twenty years ago)

i would like to go to this sometime, but, i think im away again

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 11:09 (twenty years ago)

Dude, you're always away!

It is indeed an excellent, excellent night.

WE ARE THE KATE!!! (kate), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 11:54 (twenty years ago)

have you seen amusement parks on fire, kate? the singer looks like a baby version of one of those birdland twins.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 11:56 (twenty years ago)

No, I've never seen a pic. Should I search for one? Man, all of Sonic Cathedrals is just a giant smorgasboard of lovely boys. Are you coming, Lauren?

WE ARE THE KATE!!! (kate), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 12:22 (twenty years ago)

that week is going to be a hectic one, and i'll be at the mercy of guests for part of it but i'd like to attend if possible.

Yippee skippee yay! I thought it had disappeared off to Oxford never to return, but here it's back. With added extra Reid Brother:

Get ready to party like it’s 1991 to classic
shoegazing sounds from the Velvets to the Valentines
to Ulrich Schnauss as the SONIC CATHEDRAL opens its
doors for worship on JOHN PEEL DAY, Thursday October
13. Appropriately, there’s a very rare live outing for
JIM REID, former frontman of Peel favourites The Jesus
And Mary Chain, plus one of the first UK appearances
from Australia’s THE MORNING AFTER GIRLS. On the decks
are THE TELESCOPES, who have promised some Peel
treats, and some very special SURPRISE GUESTS.
