Shanghai club scene - "Sleaze" music

I've just been told that the hottest sound in Shanghai's clubs just now is what the locals call "Sleaze". I think it has something to do with Eartha Kitt and R'nB, is quite vocal and is played by DJ Teng Boon (from Hong Kong) at club Drop. Anybody know anything about this? Sounds interesting...

Haha, non-existent. My dad is a full on assimilator, he thought Mandarin would hurt my English. My verbal SAT was pretty high, but I'd have traded a few points...

I can count to 10, say "airplane", "car" and "thank you". The only problem with moving to Shanghai is that I'd like to actually learn some standard Mandarin.

all i knew how to say when iw as in china was "how much is that". "too expensive". "rice". i went to a club in shanghai, but it was during sars, so it was kinda empty, and they werent playing any of this "sleaze". only chinese pop and hiphop

when I was living in China 6 years ago, the clubs played euro pop-techno and spice girls remixes. but I'm sure things have changed since then.

it's not even crowded!

you have to hold a flag for one traffic light cycle if you cross a crosswalk when the no walk light is on.

the food is shit. xiao long bao are full of pork flavored mountain dew.

it's expensive and relentlessly airconditioned and a hollow shell compared to singapore, tokyo, beijing, on and on.

no one can speak mandarin.

unhelpful post but basically, first the ten year ago trip i was having a bit of a personal crisis and that colored my impression of the city. i don't think there was ever a taco bell in suzhou. again, like i have to always say with these huge cities in china: if you haven't been there within five years, the recommendations aren't valid probably, and it's a huge sprawling city so it's hard to explain it in a few suggested spots. basically, i dunno, if you've never been there before, tourist shit like the bund and nanjing road, french concession, but go somewhere less touristy and eat random things, get some shanghainese food but know that it's probably not from a legit spot and shanghainese would tear you apart but whatever xiaolongbao is xiaolongbao and you're eating it in shanghai-- best case scenario try to make the acquaintance of someone that can take you to legit spots.
