Just got back from Texas where musical talent is flowing

We went to a bunch of little nothing bars in Denton, Dallas and Austin and a few nice ones, too. We basically saw a lot of blues bands, a whole bunch of guitar virtuoso types. Nothing metal-sounding, though. Two guys got together and played duelling guitars spontaneously, one just back from L.A., the other home from a nearby town that looked like they'd been playing together and perfecting this routine for at least a few weeks. My gal's stepdad got up and sang a few songs with them. All these people just show up and play together without any rehearsal. It's weird how many talented musicians there are playing every night that never get noticed. Some of these guys really should be famous, too. The two duelling guitarists could both sing and play like sonsabitches. I got to see a Harmony Rocket get played and it squealed like pig on stage (unexpected feedback). Poor guy just got it that afternoon and was bummed that it's not a great stage guitar. It looked really nice, though. I also had chicken fried steak and it wasn't very good. The rest of the Texas food is pretty good, though it is fattening as lard.

He was a little fat guy they were calling "George T. Buttkick" and I don't believe he'd ever played one before. They are great guitars and look cool, too, but they're not for playing real loud unless the amp is about 50 feet behind you. It just needs new pickups. The thing looked cool, though.
