How is it possible for people with children (non-abandoned) to make records? It would seem impossible for parents to give their craft the full-on dedication necessary to make something worthwhile, wouldn't it?

I suppose some would say that somebody who has the full range of human experience might be a superior artist, but then, what about murderers?

you are assuming dedication is necessary though aren't you dave? often the best things are those that are done without dedication, whether for a quick buck, just for fun, or kicking against financial and time constraints.

It isn't impossible, but its fckng hard. If U want to make rekords badly enough, U will. Nevertheless, I would advise anyone "creative" who is planning having kids to do so only when U have achieved all U think yr going to. Hey! This PM I changed litte Adam's trainer pants, disposing ov a turd the size of a CRICKET BALL!!!! You NEVER get used to it. Ack. Haven't U asked this one before in some form DQ? Are we to expect little Qs on thee way hur hur hur. BTW since the "terrible 2s" commenced in thee phay household, m brain has turned to sludge. Capacity for analytical thought s.th.like 10% ov what it was. The same thing will happen to yu too, mark my words. BEWARE!!!

I have always managed to manage kids + making music - though the days of Yngwie-style 14 hour practice are over.

I have a dedication to THINKING about/around music but can only record things when my other priorities are seen to. Music is no longer my life but more of a passion - never a chore. But if I was in a trad guitar band with ambitious single ppl I would find it hard to do band practice/tours etc - as would pick tweenager up from pitchaz/do thee BIG WEEKLY SHOP etc.
