versus "Boom Boom Boom Let's Go Back To My Room" by Paul Lekasis?

or S & D: Club Sex Anthems...

I used to go to this gay bar in Westchester that had an 18 and over night (I was 20), and Paul Lekakis used to hang out there. I don't think I had even heard the song then, but someone told me who he was. He seemed smug and self-satisfied.

Also, my best pal used to work the coat check at a sex club (I'm visiting him in Vegas tomorrow)... all they ever played was faceless and fairly ominous house-type stuff. Appropriate, actually.

Search: Animotion - "Obsession"

Destroy: Latour - "People are Still Having Sex"

yeah, that's what I'd imagine them to play in an actual Sex Club. I was thinking more of songs with naughty lyrics that regular Nite Klubs play.

and I'm glad to hear Lekasis was smug and self-satisfied. could he be any other way?

S: 'Deep' ~ East 17. If only for the immortal (typed 'immoral' at first) line: "wanna do it till your belly rumbles".
'I Wanna Sex U Up' ~ Color Me Badd,
'I've Got A Little Something For You' ~ MN8.

Bizarrely enough, I picked up the Lekakis album from 1990 on Sire -- it was for a buck or something. Aside from That Song and maybe one or two others, it was bland as hell crapulousness. Truly, he had a moment and that was it.

Ned, you are so disco.

This is a bit more into slow jam territory than I was initially thinking, but I'll take any opportunity to mention "Knockin' Da Boots" by H-Town (and Dan Perry's fave "Knockin' Da Boots [Christmas]").

but what I'm really thinking of are late-80's -> mid-90's uptempo chants ideally performed by gay men and embraced by straight junior high school students.

"Boys and Girls" by Blur satirizes/celebrates this genre, I reckon.

Pride-tech was all the rage in L.A. circa the late 80s, with many nods to KROQ (if you can believe it) amd KPWR (Power 106). All that latin-tinged electro synth stuff was out of control... Lekakis, Mike Mareen, Bang! Orchestra, and all the crossover industrial ZYX/Technodrome stuff coming out of Belgium, West Germany, etc. like Cetu Javu, Camouflage, Bigod 20 and all the Talla 2XLC side projects..

And later on, of course...

NEW BEAT

...the ultimate fusion of lazy industrial synth, porn, and a bad sense of humor. Darling, come here and...

I WAS A MALE STRIPPER IN A GOGO BAR I WAS A MALE STRIPPER IN A GOGO BAR I WAS A MALE STRIPPER IN A GOGO BAR. I WAS A MALE STRIPPER IN A GOGO BAR.

Um, by Man 2 Man, formerly the Fast.

Anything but "So Many Men, So Little Time."

Don't think we ever got the Lekasis thing in the UK - is this anything to do with the Vengaboys "Boom Boom Boom I Want You In My Room" currently being bastardised on the DFS sale TV ads? (Altogether now - "DOU-HOUBLE SAVI-HINGS! DOU-HOUBLE SAVI-HINGS!")
