So, I did a little search engine action and saw that precious few ILM'rs apart from m'self and Jody have ever cited the rocktastic majesty of the little known UNBAND

wow.....I wrote about three more paragraphs there, and they done all disappeared!

That sucks. Well, here's the deal:

the Unband were a band. They used to sleep on a friend of mine's couch in Costa Mesa, California. They weren't especially gifted, but their shows were always entertaining. After a few years of slugging it out in shitty clubs and opening for metal hasbeens, they called it quits. Bass player and drunk lothario Mike Ruffino has just written a book about his travels with the Unband, and it's fuckin' hilarious. Go buy it.

My initial few pararaphs that went poof were much more descriptive, eloquent and engaging, I promise.

Seriosuly, I've practically spat up a lung from laughter, and I'm only halfway through it.

It saddens me that the only person who has contributed to this thread is me.

I played them once on my radio show. Wasn't there a Massachusetts connection ... like they were from Springfield or something?

Yep. They were from Northhampton, Mass.

Alex
What's the title, and where's the best place to get the book? Somewhere that the Unband will gain the most pennies from, as they probably need it. Like us all I suppose.

The photos lure me in. They look kind of lived in that they believe in the power of Rock n Roll. They remind me of England's sadly defunct Earl Brutus who were an absolute hoot live. Brutus married Glam and Punk in a car crash with a bit of Kraut (not the band) rock thrown in. They were all late thirties and very badly dressed. And very sarcastic to boot

I've never even heard OF the Unband. Where they any good?

Duh

sorry. Title in thread!

Ordered the book of Amazon.

Earl Brutus were heavy drinkers too.

''...I've had ten pints..." proudly bellowed in their song 'Navyhead'

That was their best song. Honest, it was good. The rest was a touch, erm.
But . Earl Brutus live. A glorious train wreck.

Yes! THE THREAD LIVES!

You can get the book via Amazon. As far as the Unband's music? Let's just say that they were never destined for greatness, but they were huge fun in a live capacity. Their best song, actually is easily "ABCDEFUCK", which is just as dumb as it sounds.

That first (and only?) Earl Brutus album was great.

The book is a scream, I promise you. And no, I'm not getting paid to say this.

I am a Retarder, so I picked the book up again.

Laugh out loud.

Recommended.
