oops, past few years.

Right,

9. Seagulls S.K.A.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 2 February 2005 13:55 (twenty years ago)

Showaddywaddy! They haven't had a top 20 hit in 26 years! Bit more than a "few" years innit?

Anyway I wouldn't rule them out. There'll probably be a pro-hunting protest record which'll get to #17, same as Attila the Stockbroker.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 2 February 2005 14:05 (twenty years ago)

oh I said I missed that bit.

Oh go on then,

20. The Libertines.

Which Mark Ronson made the top 20? "Ooh Wee"? I don't remember it happening but I do know the whole album is great.

"Ooh Wee" got to #15. It was inescapable as soundtrack music on sports highlight packages for about four months.

El Janko (JasonD), Thursday, 3 February 2005 03:21 (twenty years ago)

The two-disc promo mix for the Ronson album is even better- understandable since he made his fame as a DJ, not a producer. Though IIRC he's doing production for the upcoming Rhymefest album (the guy who raps on his Air remix- great flow, horrible name).

Didn't the Fall have a top 20 hit, or was it top 40?

Telephone Thing, Thursday, 3 February 2005 03:46 (twenty years ago)

Dom, I'm guessing we're talking the top 20 in the US. I don't remember it being on sports show over here in the UK. They normally stick to "Beautiful Day" by U2. *yawns loudly*

Nick H (Nick H), Thursday, 3 February 2005 14:31 (twenty years ago)

mark ronson - 2 disc promo .. what was extra ? never seen that appear in my ebay trawls ?

mark e (mark e), Thursday, 3 February 2005 14:36 (twenty years ago)

No Nick, top 20 UK. The Premiership used it something like four shows running to sum up, I dunno, Peter Crouch's contribution to sporting excellence.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 3 February 2005 14:37 (twenty years ago)

Oh OK. My memory's obviously going in in my old age (22).
