Midnight Oil... splitting a mix

Say you're of the mind to make a 2-disc Midnight Oil compilation for a friend or perhaps yourself. You've got all the studio albums and eps, so you're at no loss for material.

If you were to go chronologically and with the intention of separating their career into two parts (old really fantastic Oils vs. newer often decent Oils), would you begin the second disc with Diesel and Dust material or with Blue Sky Mining material?

i.e. Did the quality first begin dropping 1987 or in 1990?

Now there's an idea.

'87 is probably more correct, but I tend to view Blue Sky as the beginning of the slide.

Whatever you do, no album should be more represented than "Red Sails In the Sunset."

Midnight Oil: Classic or G'dud!

As above: BSM is when things began to slide, but I would probably start the second disc with D&D. I think there's more continuity from there forward.

Mitch OTM. You're better off with a full disk of the pre-D&D material.

Yeah, start it with D&D. I actually think D&D's pretty great, but it marked a shift for them in a lot of ways. (Without D&D, I would also be concerned about having enough good songs to fill out the 2nd CD, but that's just me.)

D&D for sure. Or even Species Deceases if you want to show that they could go RAWK without going boring; again, this will help to fill the second disc (by four songs one hopes) and give more room for the good stuff on the first.

wedding cake island would be an opener
all of 10,9,8,..1,diesel and dust, blue sky mining

The quality began dropping post 1981, their first 3 albums are far superior to their subsequent output

I suppose I should add an IMHO about here
