Who has seen the crunk Chrysler ad? I am kinda shocked. Kinda. Big Rave synth bassline, those claps, a whistle, the whole Lil Jon sound. As a shiny Chrysler tools around Manhattan. I think this means that drum n bass is officially over as the car commercial sound of choice . . . . (too bad for those Photek and Source Direct licensing folks)

I think Nick Drake should be the most pissed.

Yeah - I saw it tonight. Kinda liked hearing that sound behind a spot, but you could tell it was agency music (i.e. not the real deal). Though I could be wrong that it's not a licensed track. Still - good riddance to drum n' bass in commercials.

Does the Chrysler get low or shake it like a saltshaker?

It gets low.

Chrysler’s Creed, who admits to being “horrified” at the sight of vinyl roofs on the 300, said there is a bright side to the trend.

“It points to a lot of excitement about the vehicle,” he said. “It gets people’s creativity flowing, and they want to make the cars unique.”

But there are limits.

“I have not seen gold wheels and whitewall tires yet,” Creed said. “I might draw the line there.”
