This is one of those reality checks where I realize I have no idea what day-to-day life is like in Jamaica, though I finally visited the place a couple months ago.

Any ideas what the swear word in question was?

Is that actually Sizzla pictured? He looks a little different. Either way this a pretty hefty penalty, but it's not entirely surprising. Swearing is pretty sparse on dancehall records for a reason ya know.

this happens a lot. famously, lady saw nearly ende up in jail after her performance at sumfest a couple of years ago. bounty killer and elephant man have both been charged under the island's obscenity laws and a stack of people before them. i dunno, people still manage to swear quite a bit on dancehall records - alozade made a track called fuck vibes not so long ago and ce'cile's track on the clear rhythm talks about her bits in anglo-saxon, not to mention a whole subcategory of sizzla tunes.
