It's very dark at times but he's really run out of things to say.

Dyke Jones, Thursday, 3 February 2005 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

50 Cent had things to say?

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 3 February 2005 18:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes. About cake.

Lazza, Thursday, 3 February 2005 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

and didn't he steal that line from somewhere? I could've sworn I remember it from a Biz Markie song or something...

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 3 February 2005 18:47 (twenty-one years ago)

No.

Pikmin, Thursday, 3 February 2005 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

is it gothic? i think i could go for a gothic 50 cent album, it would suit his drawled delivery. i liked a lot of the productions on his last record, i would be looking for him to develop a stronger personality on record this time.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Thursday, 3 February 2005 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

The production's much better - more brooding, better 'songs' (in terms of hooks etc). 'Piggy Bank' will get all the hype but there are much better songs on it.

"I don't know what you heard about me/
but I'm a motherfucking U.N.D.E.R.T.A.K.E.R"

Jay-Kid (Jay-Kid), Thursday, 3 February 2005 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm really curious to hear "Baltimore Love Thing" (not just because of the title, but because of his description of it as some high concept lyrical thing about the relationship between heroin and an addict).

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 3 February 2005 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

can we at least all agree that candy shop is pretty horrible?

f-a-b-o-l-o-u-s (adamwest), Thursday, 3 February 2005 19:45 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, I didn't think it was possible that something would come around to make "Disco Inferno" a preferable alternative.

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 3 February 2005 19:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 3 February 2005 19:46 (twenty-one years ago)

So he finally caved about calling it "The St. Valentine's Day Massacre"? That's too bad. I liked that title.

Chuckling at the Tomkat's Marquee (Ben Boyer), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Disco Inferno (Produced By Dangerous LLC)

Cover or not, I wonder.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, that songs been on the radio forever already.
Who's Olivia?
Has Hi Tek done any production for other big mainstream rap artists?

Magic City (ano ano), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Fuck a Fitty.

Dr. Z Indahouse (AaronHz), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

GATMAN AND ROBIN

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:41 (twenty-one years ago)

since i don't have any of the albums here to double-check the liner notes, i can't be positive but i think Hi-Tek did a track or two on the last D-12 album and some of the G-Unit solo joints.

jonviachicago, Thursday, 3 February 2005 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Gatman and Robin, indeed! Where's that thread on the WTF genre?

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Thursday, 3 February 2005 21:30 (twenty-one years ago)

hard as i try, i can not drum up any enthusiasm for this at all. g-unit has been fucking impossible to get away from for 18 months now - 50 really needed to go away for a while, create an interest again. yeah yeah, he's striking while the iron is hot, i just wish he would have made an effort to change it up a bit. fucking "disco inferno" and "candy shop" is same old same old. it's no coincidence that the best g-unit record since die tryin' is the one that's sounded the least like them. (cashville)

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 3 February 2005 21:46 (twenty-one years ago)

wouldn't "striking while the iron is hot" be if he'd put an album out a year ago, or last summer like he originally planned to? 2 years is a pretty long time to take to follow up an album as big as Get Rich these days. he's laid relatively low for someone of his stature aside from supporting the other G-Unit projects.

Olivia's the "first lady of G-Unit", btw. not a member of the group, just a singer on the label.

Hi-Tek's been doing tracks for Aftermath/G-Unit for a while now. in the Scratch interview he says it started with him doing some songs with Snoop for the Eastsidaz album, which led to songs for WC and Truth Hurts, which led to Dre bringing him in an as in-house producer for Aftermath.

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 3 February 2005 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

So that's not the same Olivia who did "Bizounce" on the J label a few years ago?

I'm in no hurry to hear this album, the last one was more than enough. The only way I'd enjoy Fiddy is if he'd played Mushmouth in the Fat Albert movie.

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Thursday, 3 February 2005 22:14 (twenty-one years ago)

he's laid relatively low for someone of his stature aside from supporting the other G-Unit projects.

i strongly disagree with this. between the g-unit album and all those cameos, i feel like he never actually went away.

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 3 February 2005 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

there were a good 5 months between the Young Buck and Game albums where he wasn't on much of anything (and 5 months is a pretty long time on this particular scale), and he was fairly absent on the mixtape circuit up until that new 2050 mix.

but then, there's this:

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 3 February 2005 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sort of excited to hear this. I though GRODT was a solid 4/5 album.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Thursday, 3 February 2005 22:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd be more excited if he did a 5/4 album.

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Friday, 4 February 2005 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

He needs to do an all waltz rhythm record. The song "Black Gloves" (is that right??) on the Young Buck album is in 3/4. Thats so much more rare than it should be cause its a cool sound.

Hi-Tek worked with Snoop on Paid Tha Cost and did the first track on the 213 album which is amazing.

Johnny Badlees (crispssssss), Friday, 4 February 2005 01:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish Dre would do one more record and work with as many different producers as he could. The shit he does with Storch and Elizondo is always top notch. The song on Game's album where he had Elizondo add bass to that Havoc beat is excellent. It'd be great to see him do some shit with Hi-Tek or RZA or even Timbaland - I heard they were planning a project together years ago.

Johnny Badlees (crispssssss), Friday, 4 February 2005 01:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I like Chantelle Fiddy more.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Friday, 4 February 2005 01:59 (twenty-one years ago)

three years pass...

i quite like this new track produced by premier.

how come every time premo gets a shot at mainstream major label shine he throws a mediocre cut at em and then brings ridiculous heat to big shug and afu-ra album trax??? i love grimy cats much as anybody but dude should hoard some of those bangers for when luda or 50 give a holler

and what, Monday, 12 January 2009 18:28 (seventeen years ago)

yeah i dunno, he should have given 50 a track like he gave to nygz. but this is better than the luda track. 50 sounds kinda motivated.
