Hey, buttrocker, what about Glam metal?

This guy buttrocker that's been posting here put a link up and I checked out the buttrocker page. Okay, something about early Motley Crue, Hanoi Rocks, Ratt, Faster Pussycat, Cinderella, LA Guns and Guns N' Roses was fun for me. Something about seeing skinny men dressed like women playing simple music is a no-brainer good time. But, when I listen to it now, most of it really blows. I'm not 13 anymore, but there's a glam revival going on and most of it bores me in new ways; now it appears to be all about jaded punk ideas rather than songs about girls, cars and having generic "fun". Isn't there some new glam rock that would be fun to put on, with some catchy riffs, bluesy solos and scratchy voice?

Toilet Boys? If that's who you mean, they don't look anything like you described in my opinion. They are the only good band close to this I can think of, but they have a definite lack of material. Only like 2 and a half albums so far.

Hellacopters? The guy sounds exactly like Paul Stanley, back in the 70s before his voice went all unpleasantly KY Jelly-like.

the only band i can think of that can currently do this is buckcherry -- the jaded punk ideal-trumpeting stuff bores the crap out of me because of its distance; the hunger for success was an integral part of the drive behind hard rock of yore (reading the first chapter of 'the dirt' puts 'too fast for love,' which was and still is a fine album on its own, in an even more hunger-filled context this idea), something which is antithetical to most things indie, at least in terms of public personae. (the business side of things is, of course, a much different story, which just makes the whole thing that much more gross.) and i can very much envision the lead singer of buckcherry feeling like he is at his peak when he's coated himself in the spoils of success - the cars, girls, and 'fun' referenced above.

there was also some video i saw on mtv2 a couple of weeks back that played a fairly catchy rocker in the early faster pussycat vein, but i totally forget the name of the band.

I like Hellacopters, but cosider them rock revivalists with the rest of the herd. They don't sound like glam to me.

the transchamps (trans am + fuckking champs) ep/12" is pretty good and there's songs about fucking and partying. perhaps a bit ironic but i guess if you're into that sort of thing ...

Dude, The Backyard Babies! Primary influences: Hanoi Rocks, Guns and Roses, the Dead Boys. Former Hellacopters' guitarist.
