Why doesn't somebody release the Modettes?

Overdue for a CD re-issue, I'd say.

One album, The Story So Far, and a handful of singles. Surely, it can't be that difficult to get the rights to their catelogue. Or is it?

ask Kill Rock Stars about how long its taken them to reissue the Delta 5 stuff. the only thing thats keeping them from releasing the material is the signature of a Lady Wilma over at the BBC.or merge records, who have been promising the Dinosaur Jr reissues for a few years now and are finally releasing them.

honestly, it depends. it could be the band holding out, or some trickiness involved with reiussing material thats licensed in a different country, a label losing master tapes, etc etc. the list goes on.

I forgot all about that supposed Delta 5 release. Wasn't it supposed to come out last year on KRS?

it is really, really hard to source the rights to the modettes. believe me!

What a shame, really.

Yet White Mice has popped up on a couple of compilations, the recent How to Kill the DJ pt.2 and Totally Wired.

i found the paint it black single at the princeton record exchange a couple months back, for 3$. i was kind of shocked and didnt expect it in the bin of cut-out 7" records. im totally bringing it out tonight for this thing i have to dj.

It's been ages since I heard the Paint It Black cover but it's quite a gem!

it was put on the 'kill the dj' cd with a bit of blurb asking the artists to get in touch. this is quite common on comps but wouldn't be legally upstanding for a comprehensive reissue.
