"Here we are folks
The dream we all dream of
Boy versus girl in the world series of love
Tell me, have u got the look?"

Classic.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Sunday, 6 February 2005 03:56 (twenty years ago)

I was about to say.

Now, Gary Numan's COVER of this song from 1992, that's a different story...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 6 February 2005 04:05 (twenty years ago)

Heck-a-slammin' classic.

briania (briania), Sunday, 6 February 2005 04:42 (twenty years ago)

Classic, classic, classic.

Even Sheena Easton acquits herself well.

ffirehorse, Sunday, 6 February 2005 04:44 (twenty years ago)

Classic song, classic double album, classic period for a classic artist.

Good as pop music gets right here.

Austin (Austin), Sunday, 6 February 2005 04:57 (twenty years ago)

like butta.

The first time I heard this song was on a Barbie cassette tape my sister had. So, dud!

I am upset startrekman did not ask what synths were used in the song.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Sunday, 6 February 2005 05:13 (twenty years ago)

when I put on disc 2 of Sign I kinda don't wanna hear this that much, I'm looking forward to the songs after it, actually it's probably my least favorite song on that whole half of the album but every other song is amazing so that's not a really strong comment. i think i might like it better if it was in the middle of a disc. or if i heard it more by itself.

Al (sitcom), Sunday, 6 February 2005 05:14 (twenty years ago)

that said "your face is jammin'/your body's hecka slammin'" is one of my favorite couplets ever

Al (sitcom), Sunday, 6 February 2005 05:14 (twenty years ago)

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Sunday, 6 February 2005 05:42 (twenty years ago)

I am upset startrekman did not ask what synths were used in the song.

cause i already know. and look on the side for a synth question..

Startrekman, Sunday, 6 February 2005 07:30 (twenty years ago)

I'd venture... "dud" equals "I never have fun ever"

babyalive (babyalive), Sunday, 6 February 2005 07:49 (twenty years ago)

classic
"sho'nuff do bee cookin in my book"
hot babe in video

eena sheaston, Sunday, 6 February 2005 07:55 (twenty years ago)

sounds a bit like robert palmer's addicted to love, doesnt it? the guitar riffs i mean.

always thought u got the look was a bit overproduced or just over-loaded compared to the sparseness of other SOTT tracks, but i still love it. the extended remix on the 12" is classic too.

ppp, Sunday, 6 February 2005 10:36 (twenty years ago)

"ugly lights, everybody's inspected"

i hear that line in my head every time the lights come on at the end of the night (it happened tonight, i swear, before i even knew this was on ilx).

vahid (vahid), Sunday, 6 February 2005 11:01 (twenty years ago)

I luvved this so much when it came out. Rilly tho, Sheena Easton's about as sexual as a piece of Lego.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Sunday, 6 February 2005 11:03 (twenty years ago)

Since no one in their right mind will say dud, how about:

Taking Sides, "U Got the Look" vs. the "U Got the Look (Long Look)" 12" ?

Josh in Chicago (Josh in Chicago), Sunday, 6 February 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

How readily available is the 12"?

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Sunday, 6 February 2005 15:19 (twenty years ago)

Probably as readily available as any used LP, I imagine. That is, it's not rare or anything.

Josh in Chicago (Josh in Chicago), Sunday, 6 February 2005 15:37 (twenty years ago)

TS: Prince "U got the look" vs. Roxette "The Look"

caspar (caspar), Sunday, 6 February 2005 16:01 (twenty years ago)

everytime 'Raspberry Beret' comes on my brain radio it's got the lyrics to 'U Got The Look' over it

Alienus Quam Reproba (blueski), Sunday, 6 February 2005 16:03 (twenty years ago)

"Long Look" trashes album version, yet album version is still classic. that's what's known as firing on all cylinders.
