i want dreamy/droney/jangly indie loveless style, but not necessarily like loveless, with cool vocals and lyrics. i'm kind of new to this genre so just recommend me stuff i can get off slsk.

poortheatre (poortheatre), Sunday, 6 February 2005 19:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm utterly sick of the nonsensical M83->MBV cliche. Never saw the connection there. Just seems like a superlative used by lazy rock crits to hype M83.

greg ginn thought neubauten was bullshit, why don't you? (smile), Sunday, 6 February 2005 20:10 (twenty-one years ago)

its the 'glacial' head-compounding ultra-compressed feeling their synth-sound creates

chris andrews (fraew), Sunday, 6 February 2005 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

m83 sound like mbv. no laziness involved.

The Lilys, but be careful with more recent output!

Not at my usual base so cds not to hand but a bit of research will help.

'Eccsame the Photon Band' is (i think) the title of the one to go for.

hull hole (hull hole), Sunday, 6 February 2005 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

There is one track on the m83 Dead Cities which immediately brings to mind MBV. It happens to be the best track on the album.

hull hole (hull hole), Sunday, 6 February 2005 20:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I would also recommend the aforementioned Red House Painters to anyone.
