i want dreamy/droney/jangly indie loveless style, but not necessarily like loveless, with cool vocals and lyrics. i'm kind of new to this genre so just recommend me stuff i can get off slsk.

I'm utterly sick of the nonsensical M83->MBV cliche. Never saw the connection there. Just seems like a superlative used by lazy rock crits to hype M83.

There is one track on the m83 Dead Cities which immediately brings to mind MBV. It happens to be the best track on the album.
