idjut boys = saturday night live vol 2!!!

saturday night live vol 1 is not quite as fantastic but also really good. their greatest hits comp "u-star daze" is also very nice.

they're sort of like chicken lips but more focused and less minimal.

cool. i like focused.

I don't know anything about Lindstrom's DJ skills, but as a producer he's on fire. He has his own label, Feedelity, and numerous samples of his work are available online: http://www.feedelity.com/

I'm not as familiar with Prins Thomas; I've heard some of his remixes which are invariably good-to-great but I've not heard much of his own material.

thanks for the URL, they have a couple streaming radio mixes. i'm really liking the first one - especially the liquid liquid remix they drop early on.

They are both pretentious wankers...you will like them both...

i don't have time to listen to it but which liquid liquid track is it?

i really like soem of lindstrom's 12's. there seesm to be a lot of nutsoid disco coming out of norway just now.

Nutsoid Norwegian disco almost deserves its own thread.

jeffery (jeffery), Monday, 7 February 2005 22:18 (twenty-one years ago)

it's the brennan green devious funk mix of "flextone."

the stream and rest of the tracklisting are here:

Idjut Boys - "Daily Dose"
Lindstrøm - "Er Bestemor Paa Moten" (from Plague the Kid 12")

If anyone has some more nutsoid Norwegian disco recommendations, please!

Erm, isn't that your remix on the same side?

JoB (JoB), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 00:15 (twenty-one years ago)

nutsoid finnish tech-house disco = sasse / freestyle man

not norwegian but also key are:

1) the bear funk / hairy claw family of labels

2) dj harvey's black cock label

3) the ridiculously slept-on "ray mang" album on eskimo recordings (i think this is by somebody named simon gupta, who i guess helps out with production on various faze action and idjut boys recordings)

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i really like this style of music. i've decided faze action and the idjuts were way ahead of their time.

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 00:21 (twenty-one years ago)

JoB, it's a re edit as opposed to a remix. i was meant to remix the a-side but couldn't get it done in time for the release.

my fave nustoid norwegian disco record of the moment is 'Ferskfes' by Kango's Stein Massiv. crazy synths, crazy sleeve, crazy record!

and yup, the idjuts were miles ahead. they've got a new single out which is very pleasant but i think their early releases were just wonderful.

stirmonster, Tuesday, 8 February 2005 00:41 (twenty-one years ago)

oops sorry, ray mang is RAJ GUPTA, not to be confused with SIMON LEE of faze action.

bongos are hot for spring/summer 2005!!

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Ray Mang is good.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 12:25 (twenty-one years ago)

That post was quite to the point.

three weeks pass...
Prins Thomas - Discomiks EP:

Prins Thomas (for it is he, alledgedly!) delivers the latest packed 12" of disco re-edits for Rong's Promo Only' series with no label info. Track one is an edit of Masaki Matsubara AKA Matsubara's "SOS (Society of Soul)" a tropical guitar led piece with brass and a wicked groove, the next tune is a charged disco soul instrumental and track three is a loopy Can-meets-Fela-meets-Liquid Liquid Krautrock abstraction (it's actually from Amon Duul II, "Da Guadeloop"). These three tracks are so good that they're above and beyond the call of duty, but then he pulls out all the stops for the final cut. Being a looped up mad French disco classic, Kikrokos' "Jungle DJ", the 1978 original being a known fave of Carl Craig with its ace techno sounds!
(Picadilly Records blurb.

Been listening to extended snippets of this at turntablelab.com - I like it!

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 5 March 2005 12:25 (twenty years ago)

I think Prins Thomas is doing quite a bit for Poker Flat Recordings at the moment - there should be some stuff by him on the Volume 4 comp coming out soon.

I've liked everything I've heard by Kango's Stein Massive so far.
