Rap Albums with Lyrics in the Booklets

I can only name a few:

Eminem - Encore and The Eminem Show
Outkast - Stankonia and Speakerboxxx/Love Below
Madvillain - Madvillainy

I can't remember if this is correct or not, but for some reason I'm thinking that Dr. Octagonecologyst came with lyrics, but I could be wrong (I lost my copy quite some time ago). Can someone confirm this?

What other rap albums come with lyrics?

Interesting to note that most of these records have been crossover hits with white rock audiences. I'm not sure if that's not entirely a coincidence.

Matthew "Flux" Perpetua, Tuesday, 8 February 2005 13:57 (twenty years ago)

All the Public Enemy albums.

JoB (JoB), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 14:24 (twenty years ago)

Also: the Lauryn Hill album. So far, Matthew seems to have a point...

Did the Wu-Tang ever do it tho?

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 14:30 (twenty years ago)

Nope, but I think Wu-Tang is more along the lines of Jay-Z and Nas.

Matthew "Flux" Perpetua, Tuesday, 8 February 2005 14:50 (twenty years ago)

The new Sage Francis album ("A Healthy Distrust") prints the lyrics. In fact, I think the sticker on the front of the CD advertises the fact that lyrics are included.

subgenius (subgenius), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 15:49 (twenty years ago)

(I think it's safe to say that Sage Francis has some appeal to the white rock audiences, especially now that he's signed to Epitaph.)

subgenius (subgenius), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 15:51 (twenty years ago)

new aesop rock cd showed up, in slim jewel case, with a thick-ass booklet of lyrics from all five albums of his.

Beta (abeta), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 15:51 (twenty years ago)

The new Saul Williams record has all the lyrics printed out. Probably the first one too.

Matthew "Flux" Perpetua, Tuesday, 8 February 2005 15:54 (twenty years ago)

MC Paul Barman also includes his lyrics in his packaging.

Did the Wu-Tang ever do it tho?

No, but the Rza's new book about 36 chambers has the lyrics with annotations!

Shmool McShmool (shmuel), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 00:21 (twenty years ago)

Fabolous - Real Talk

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 00:48 (twenty years ago)

Hey the RZA has a book? Is there a thread?

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 12:59 (twenty years ago)

Sista Souljah's "360 Degrees of Power" had the lyrics, and funnily enough some of the explicit lyrics - but not all of them - were censored in the booklet.

PS: awful rapper w/ annoying fans.

wrong! and wrong!

Princess Superstar = magnificent woman with great songs.

hip-hop purists hate her. this doesn't make her good, because she's good anyway, but it's a bonus.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 19:18 (twenty years ago)

two weeks pass...
RZA's "Birth of a Prince" has all the lyrics printed in the booklet. I wish more Wu-Tang albums did this (at least now there's the Manual...)
