CDs with 99 songs (or close enough), and they're all actually songs! and not intentional dead space

The first disc of the Charles Bronson double-CD mega-discography collection. (96 tracks.. the last track is actually 10 songs done live with pieces of Slayer dialogue inserted in between each.)

Also The Gerogerigegege's Tokyo Anal Dynamite clocks in at 75 tracks in about 38 minutes.

I just did one!

Not really songs, but 99 recording excerpts, all under a minute. It's fun to put on shuffle.

Otomo Yoshihide -- Sampling Virus (77 songs, 53 minutes)
Farmers Manual -- Explorers_We (60 songs, 60 minutes, each track is exactly one minute long)
The Rip-Off Artist -- Pump (69 songs, 45 minutes. Although the album is sequenced into 69 songs, I wouldn't exactly say there are 69 songs on there)

(on the back of the CD case, the album is splits into sections beginning on tracks 1, 7, 15, 19, 21, 28, 36, 43, 48, 54, 61, 66, 68. Some of the splitting between tracks is done seemingly arbitrarily, right in the middle of a song. However, on the inner sleeve, each of the 69 sections is given its own title. I'm explaining this badly)

100% genuine answer, no excuses:

"45 Seconds Of ..." (a Simballrec compilation)

99 tracks, each track is exactly 45 seconds long

does stone roses "second coming" count ?
my cd players went crazy between tracks 12-99 then reveals a hidden song good enough to be a single.

"dead space" was bad wording on my part, but yeah I'm trying to avoid CDs that intentionally use (or abuse, depending on your perspective) the max amount of tracks per CD to just have one song traverse all the track numbers until 99... Mercury Rev does that on at least one issue of Yerself Is Steam -- the Columbia reissue -- for "Very Sleepy Rivers" or whatever the last song is called..

They Might Be Giants' Apollo 18, from what I remember, actually has songs on each of those mini tracks up to, I think, 38? So that one, while not really close to 99 per se, would come closer to counting.

donut christ (donut), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 07:55 (twenty years ago)

didn't agoraphobic nosebleed have one that was 100 songs? i think it was a mini-CD too!

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 08:09 (twenty years ago)

Agoraphobic Nosebleed - Altered States of America

99 songs + 1 hidden at the beginning of the disc.
Total playing time under 20 minutes!

"Off The Chain For The Y2K" by DJ Assault is the one with the most tracks that I've got and that's got 83 tracks.

Hey, there was another Duck Hunt on K records that was half of the members of Pell Mell! (Steve Fisk and Bob Beerman, I think)

donut christ (donut), Thursday, 10 February 2005 03:59 (twenty years ago)

DJ Assault's Straight Up Detroit Shit CDs usually have about 99 tracks on them - at least vol. 5 does, which is the only one I own.
