Songs you like for absolutely NO logical reason...

Not quite guilty pleasures, as in other threads, but songs you're just not sure why you like... Basically, defend your indefensibles.

Jethro Tull - Skating Away on the Thin Ice of a New Day
Celine Dion - Thats the Way It Is
Mercyful Fate - Curse of the Pharoahs
Enya - Storms in Africa
Doors - LA Woman (I love/hate this song, and without a doubt despise this album)
The Muppets - Mahnahmahnah

(Yeah, thats a strange list)

It may be that every song I like, I like for no logical reason.

Reasons in brackets

Presidents of the usa - peaches ("Peaches come from a can")
The shamen - Ebeneezer goode ("got any salmon?" "luuuuuuuuuuuuvley")
U2 - Where the streets have no name (the four to the floor ish beat that kicks in part way through)
Money for nothing. ("ooa mooma")
Guns n roses - Patience (the whistling and the group singalong at the end)

Iron Maiden - Bring your daughter... to the slaughter! (it is silly)

Wax 'Bridge To Your Heart'

Alienus Quam Reproba (blueski), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Several Chas & Dave songs - and Tori Amos would appear to agree with me

Dadrockismus (Dada), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yes! The sideboard song especially.

"Mahna Mahna" fucking rules! Apparently it's ripped from a song in an obscure porn film or something...

I'm trying to figure out why exactly I like Roxy Music's debut. My mother hates it...she think it's boring and insipid and Ferry sound horrendous and I think she's quite right...but I am enjoying it anyway. My "rational/logical brain" says I shouldn't and my "irrational and illogical" (and therefore ultimately superior brain, as nothing we do is really supposed to be rational) brain loves it.

Ian Riese-Moraine (Eastern Mantra), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Original version of Mahna Mahna is on track 4 here.

mikef (mfleming), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 23:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I think someone upthread said this, but I don't think "logic" plays a part in why I like any music.

Pretty much all Arrested Development.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Thursday, 10 February 2005 01:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I think this is a coy way of asking, "What are your guilty pleasures?"

I dunno. I don't feel guilty about any pleasure, least of all artistic pleasure. The other day at work I was singing Amy Grant's "Every Heartbeat" quite loudly (I'm sure Chuck Eddy would appreciate that...)

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 10 February 2005 01:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't like *any* songs for logical reasons.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 10 February 2005 02:00 (twenty-one years ago)
