Justin's singles:
"Like I Love You"
"Cry Me A River"
"Rock Your Body"
"Senorita"

CMB's singles:
"I Wanna Sex You Up"
"I Adore, Mi Amor"
"All 4 Love"
"Takin' Back"
"Slow Motion"

I'm going with CMB.

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 10 February 2005 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I heartily agree.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 February 2005 17:09 (twenty-one years ago)

"All 4 Love" and "Senorita" are the best songs up there.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 10 February 2005 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Pedantic note: CMB single #4 was "Thinkin' Back." They performed it a capella on some awards show and I was mightily impressed. I guess after Shai did their thing, CMB felt they had something to prove.

"All 4 Love" hasn't aged well at all, though. (xpost: sorry Dan!)

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Thursday, 10 February 2005 17:12 (twenty-one years ago)

"Slow Motion," yo!

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 10 February 2005 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I should post these descriptions from the liner notes before I take this used cassette of C.M.B. I got for a buck over to goodwill.

Bryan Abrams (Casper Van Diem): vocals

"I love a woman with sensitivity, romance in her heart and the ability to understand the depth of a good man."

Sam Watters (Kenny G): Vocals
Date of birth: July 23, 1970
Astrological sign: Leo
Hobbies: Music, basketball, dancing and writing

"I love to give a girl roses, write her a peom, sing her a song or do whatever it takes to make her feel like a lady!"

Mark Calderon (George Michael): Vocals
date of birth: september 27, 1970
Astrological sign: libra
Hobbies: singing, dancing, writing and sports

"I love all girls, especially the ones that respect themselves and always show their true colors."

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 10 February 2005 17:19 (twenty-one years ago)

George Michael + Cyndi Lauper = TRU LUV

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 10 February 2005 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not sure which one wrote the poetic verse: I like to love you slow so morning will come before (I do)

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 10 February 2005 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

those liner notes just made me throw up all over my keyboard

Tito JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 10 February 2005 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

George Michael + Cyndi Lauper = TRU LUV

"I will be your father figure
Put your true colours in mine."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 February 2005 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I think JT vs. Jordan Knight would be a more interesting comparison.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 10 February 2005 17:55 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah but he was a eunuch with the New Kids and people only know like two Jordan solo songs if that.

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 10 February 2005 17:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I side with CMB until Justin releases a single with a Spanish language verse.

TU ERES MI VIDA, CAMERON.

Jeff Reguilon (Talent Explosion), Thursday, 10 February 2005 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

With the exception of "I Wanna Sex You Up," most of CMB has aged REALLY bad. I always saw them as the last gasp of the NKOTB '80s style boy bands until the species went extinct for six years, returning from the primordial stew new and improved with the Backdoor Boys.

Oh, and Justin rocks.

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 10 February 2005 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I feel like Meryl Streep in Sophie's Choice.

Leon the Fatboy (Ex Leon), Thursday, 10 February 2005 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah but he was a eunuch with the New Kids and people only know like two Jordan solo songs if that.

But "Give it to You" is an all time classic - still a floor filler too.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 10 February 2005 18:17 (twenty-one years ago)

My close business relationship with Color Me Badd prevents me from answering this question honestly.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 10 February 2005 18:23 (twenty-one years ago)

JT,

but "I Wanna Sex You Up" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "Cry Me a River"

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Thursday, 10 February 2005 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

TS: "you're out of this world, except you're not green" vs. "we can do it till we both wake up."

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 10 February 2005 19:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I want you to know that I do it all for love.

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 10 February 2005 19:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Those liner notes are incredible. Astrological signs, too: they should've covered "Float On." (No, not that one.)

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Thursday, 10 February 2005 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

"Cry Me a River" is the worst of the nine singles listed.
OTOH, Justin's other three singles handily whip the CMB singles.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 10 February 2005 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

How 'bout CMB versus BSB? "Quit Playin' Games with My Heart" vs "Thinkin' Back"?

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 10 February 2005 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I always hated CMB, but one night I wandered into a bar that was populated entirely by 40-50 year old black people... there was a DJ playing, and he kept spinning CMB tunes. Surprisingly, in that setting (mixed in with other late 70s and 80s r&b), CMB made a lot of sense.

I think JT could potentially do something great, but I haven't seen it yet. "Cry Me A River" and "Rock Your Body" are fun, though.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Thursday, 10 February 2005 20:06 (twenty-one years ago)

"Cry Me a River" is the worst of the nine singles listed.

Fucking right on.

Why CMAR has been selected as the JT track that it's OK for everyone to like is fucking bizarre. It's like if everyone simultaneously decided that "My Boo" was the best of the Usher singles.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Thursday, 10 February 2005 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

BSB wins for "The Call", "I Want It That Way", "Larger Than Life" and "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)".

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 10 February 2005 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Dr. Bill, you are so totally crazy...I like all the Timberlake singles, but CMAR definitely stands out for its nearly-but-not-quite-over-the-top ambition and pure symphonic qualities; its a mini-symphony of pop music and it succeeds massively. I dont think its surprising at all that people choose it as representative of Timberlake's greatness.

CMAR >>> all the other singles from either CMB or JT.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Thursday, 10 February 2005 21:07 (twenty-one years ago)

LILY is sorely underrated - it makes me work a dancefloor like...like 'Nothin' Else'. Justin still wins, though IWSYU is a monstaaaaaaahhhh.

Deerninja B4rim4, Plus-Tech Whizz Kid (Barima), Thursday, 10 February 2005 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

one year passes...
My close business relationship with Color Me Badd prevents me from answering this question honestly.

How come no one called M@tt out on this?????
