In my Direct Connect folder [swishcottage]. It's so naggingly familiar - what does it remind me of?

davidsim (davidsim), Saturday, 12 February 2005 01:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd nail her

leatherboy, Saturday, 12 February 2005 01:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Popjustice were really into this - haven't heard it yet

Paul (scifisoul), Saturday, 12 February 2005 01:56 (twenty-one years ago)

The terrorists have lost.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 12 February 2005 02:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I think this is the Tom Neville Club Mix, isn't it? I don't think the original version of the song has leaked yet. Maybe I'm wrong...

Shane (Shane), Saturday, 12 February 2005 17:53 (twenty-one years ago)

She says "crap!". It is all supermoderate and compact in similar manner to the last Auteurs album. It's really great.

Alex in Doncaster (Alex in Doncaster), Saturday, 12 February 2005 18:23 (twenty-one years ago)

This is fantastic! Sorry I didn't get a chance to thank you before you logged off, I always walk off and come back to find I missed something important.

I really hope this is the single!

Patrick Allan (adr), Saturday, 12 February 2005 20:07 (twenty-one years ago)

It seems this is indeed the Tom Neville club radio edit. It's far too good to be a hit.

davidsim (davidsim), Tuesday, 15 February 2005 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Please please please can someone gmail this to me. Please. Please. Please.

xxxx

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 15 February 2005 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh wow, single of the year, this song is fucking amazing! one listen and it's embedded in my head.

also Rachel is slowly becoming an unlikely mistress of Spoken Word Bits - following on from 'big platform boots' in the "Some Girls" extended version, we now have the most polite "could you turn the track down a little bit, please?" ever.

Oh, and surf guitar. oh, surf guitar. oh.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 15 February 2005 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Sweet Jesus, this song is ridiculous. I'm not sure it that's in the good sense or the bad sense yet. "I don't negotiate with love!" and then those fast rambling monotone lyrics. Ha ha ha ha ha. Seriously, I hope it becomes a huge hit (if it's not already, I have no idea what's going on in the charts in the UK) so they'll have it at the karaoke bars.

TayBridge, Tuesday, 15 February 2005 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

hmm, i've heard it ten times, and keep hitting play agin, which is good. but nothing except the chorus is sticking with me, which is bad.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 15 February 2005 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Alex, do you want the single version or the remix? I've got both now and can't tell which I prefer, or even if I like it or am indifferent. I may just love it to bits. It's so bloody cold. Email me from a working address and i'll send it to you.

davidsim (davidsim), Tuesday, 15 February 2005 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Say David, er, both versions...*coughnedr@sbcglobal.nethack* Thanks!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 February 2005 23:15 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, about 15 listens now, it's fantastic!

btw, which version was yousendited on the other thread? the version i'm listening to is 3:09 long...

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 15 February 2005 23:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I have the single version - 3:09. could I have the remix please david? the address below works, just remove the HEY.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 15 February 2005 23:17 (twenty-one years ago)

davidsim, maybe the verse parts are reminding you of pink's 'feel good time'?

xcixxorx, Tuesday, 15 February 2005 23:17 (twenty-one years ago)

surely not. Rachel's verses have a tune, for one thing. And character, for another. And witty lyrics, for another.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 15 February 2005 23:18 (twenty-one years ago)

this is terrible.

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 15 February 2005 23:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Could somebody please send both versions to abegrand(at)gmail.com?

a. begrand (a begrand), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 04:16 (twenty-one years ago)

if someone could send me just the single version (not tom neville's remix) it'd be greatly appreciated.

westendboy(at)gmail.com

william, it was really nothing (superpopelectro), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 05:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, could someone pass the single version? Thanks a lot!

totalpop(at)gmaildotcom

daavid (daavid), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 06:18 (twenty-one years ago)

If someone would please mail me a CDR of this to 123 ADD street, Mercenary, Georgia 12666, it would be great!

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 06:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha ha.

The yousendit link for the single mix is still up and running at The thread for requesting and offering mp3s to be gmailed, yousendited etc. (previously: 'The thread for gmail offers and requests') (posted 8:17PM yesterday) but you all deserve to die so you wouldn't know that!

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 07:26 (twenty-one years ago)

haha! er....?

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

hmm .. a little too sickly sweet for me.

but the spoken part is indeed lovely and an obvious take on 'lets start the record' a la Annie.

mark e (mark e), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Listening to the single mix now, thanks David -- the verses are great but I'm not sure of the chorus (I like the break and the surf guitar though).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,14932-1480090,00.html

I am beginning to suspect that the Rachel album is going to be this year's What Will The Neighbours Say? - Xenomania are on board, as is Mr X again. And "Negotiate With Love" gets better and better every time I hear it.

ANTICIPATION.

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 19 February 2005 18:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it's gonna be Schizophrenic 3 (remember kids, this year JC strikes back!). It's a fine, fine single - Joanne and Susanne leaving Phil behind the boards and making their own manifesto.

What this year's Cartooom! will be is a more burning question.

Deerninja B4rim4, Plus-Tech Whizz Kid (Barima), Saturday, 19 February 2005 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

the snare sound on this is awesome

Hari A$hur$t (Toaster), Sunday, 27 February 2005 01:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it's gonna be Schizophrenic 3 (remember kids, this year JC strikes back!).
I think it's gonna be Schizophrenic 2 (remember kids, this year Geri Haliwell strikes back!).

jendy wames, Sunday, 27 February 2005 02:21 (twenty-one years ago)

The burbley synth is the best noise of the year so far, no question. SO SO great.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Sunday, 27 February 2005 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, the synth is sort of like acid 303 gone MOR!

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Sunday, 27 February 2005 07:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Popjustice is going mad for 'So Good'. Anyone here heard it?

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Nope, but want to now! NWL still so great.

Have people heard the Kylie? Lovin' You?

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes to the Kylie, two versions. Very much a demo, but one of those songs so hook-laden you want to shout "pick a chorus, any chorus".

davidsim (davidsim), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

That Negotitate With Love video - very Minogue, Indeed, a cross between Kylie's Come Into My World and Dannii's You Won't Forget About Me.,

davidsim (davidsim), Friday, 4 March 2005 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

the video is fabulous. her GOLF SWING! and she mimes most of the lyrics!

"Negotiate With Love" as series of punctums

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 4 March 2005 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
LOVE the breathy little "crap" in the beginning.

i think it's about half as good as "some girls" which is saying a lot in my book.

Jimmy_tango, Sunday, 20 March 2005 01:47 (twenty years ago)

Has this been released in Canada or the States? For mix-cd purposes, like.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 01:48 (twenty years ago)

Is anyone sharing this on soulseek? I've had it on my want list for a good three months.

Atnevon (Atnevon), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 04:25 (twenty years ago)

They've taken the "crap" off it! The b-side on the super-bumper cd, which is Queen, is very scandifine too. and the interview is nice, she says "quirky pop" a lot. The font on the sleeve really puts the 'ache' in 'Rachel'.
