Hello, Cool People. My name is Sharon.

I've been loitering by the playground for a while, have just now got up the courage to come over & join in.

Figured I'd offer my formal introduction, extend a hand and say Hey.
Pleasedtameetcha!

I grew up in a small country town in Australia, where my formative years were spent listening to godawful AM radio (and as a result can often be observed absentmindedly sing along to some of the cheesiest songs in existence). I met my husband through a Pearl Jam newsgroup in 1995, and since moving to the US almost 3 years ago to be married, we've enjoyed a fairly music-heavy marriage. I love my Australian music, like Nick Cave, You Am I, the Beasts Of Bourbon, the Saints, Magic Dirt etc, and while I miss seeing those guys as often as I used to, the thing I'm loving about being here in the States is the opportunity to see more of the american & international bands i love, more often. (Local scene in Australia is great, but as far as touring bands go, we're about as popular as Greenland). As far as the kind of music I listened to, becasue my tastes are kind of broad I get a kick out of some of the web-streamed radio stations out there, like WOXY in Cinncinati (lots of good new music, so I don't get too comfortable with my nostalgia) and Indie 103.1 (now media darling) out of LA, and I don't care what anyone says, I love Little Steven's Underground Garage because I can never have too much of the British Invasion.

I love talking & arguing about music, and I've always surrounded myself with people who do the same, so I have a feeling I'm going to
enjoy hanging out at ILM.

Thanks!!

This is an inspired list. Why Dio, out of curiosity?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 14 February 2005 05:07 (twenty-one years ago)

oops, left off two on fave artists
+
Beastie Boys
You Am I

Why Dio? He's just got such an amazing voice. Last In Line: case in point. I'm a big Maiden fan as well but Bruce can be kind of c*** , so I felt Ronnie was the best ambassador for my metal tastes.

I hope you haven't read the Pearl Jam threads.

If ya like arguing about music, you'll probably get some mileage out of Patti Smith. Hi, Sharon and welcome.

jim wentworth (wench), Monday, 14 February 2005 05:55 (twenty-one years ago)

That's a very healthy attitude to have on ILM.

Yes it is - Welcome Sharon!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 14 February 2005 05:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm a [Pearl Jam] fan, but I'm not a masochist...

I didn't realize there was a difference!
(oh, I'm lightning quick tonight!)

just kidding, by the way.

Huk-L, Monday, 14 February 2005 06:07 (twenty-one years ago)

You weren't kidding all that much, but thanks for saying so. Besides, you're right: on ILM there *is* no difference. (I'm a fast learner...)

VegemiteGrrl (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 14 February 2005 06:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Hehehe. You'll fit in well. :-) (Does your husband think we're all mentalists?)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 14 February 2005 07:01 (twenty-one years ago)
