heart of danceness

Hi, I'm new here too. I just found out about this site a couple days ago. Normally I would lurk for awhile, but I need some help. I'm trying to put together a mix, and I need some suggestions.

The name of this mix is 'Heart of Danceness'. I want any listener to dance like hell to this mix, and by the end have gone insane, or at least have his or her mind blown. For mind blowing, I figure I gotta end with LCD's 'Yeah'.

The problem with me making a dance mix is that I'm not so knowledgeable with the dance genre. What I have so far owes heavily to pitchfork's singles list of a couple weeks ago.

Here are some of the tracks I like for the mix:

LCD Soundsystem - Yeah (Crass Version)
Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, etc.
Annie - Chewing Gum
Beck - Girl
The Rapture - House of Jealous Lovers
Erlend Oye or Phoenix - If I Ever Feel Better
Ellen Allien - Alles Sehen, Sehnsucht
Bjork - Triump of a Heart

I was thinking of putting on Happy Valentine's Day by Outkast, you know, because it's timely, but in thinking about it now, I have no idea if it's danceable. Is it fast enough?

So, if you were designing a mix to reel people in and then drive them insane by blowing their minds, what would you put on?

Thanks for reading this far! Cheers!

you could do much worse than the ILM Top Tracks of 2004 list:

ILM TOP TRACKS OF 2004

I made a mix that's effortlessly, terminally danceable from that list, and I've found enough gems there for 3 or 4 more

a must: Millionaire by Kelis w/Andre 3000
another: Covered in Punk by Portabella

now I'm hooked to this site cos it's the only place I find out about great "singles"(fuck if I'm going to sit there and listen to commercial radio all day, whatever "ist" that makes me)

Happy Valentine's Day is on the slow side but definitely doable

I think you should end with Vitalic "La Rock" or Black Strobe "The Abwehr Disco".

Naah, it's got to be "Apocalypse Never" by Pilldriver or "Don't fuck with a ruffneck" by Wedlock.

I've got mixed feelings on the album as a whole, but there are a couple of choice tracks on Dance Disaster Movement's We Are from Nowhere.

I'm not terribly up on dance music on the whole, but I know I can't keep still when Ministry's "Jesus Built my Hotrod" is on. Good luck with the mix!

Thanks you all. Happy Valentine's Day.

Better be able to beatmix these shits. No one likes a gap...

right. beatmix....

so I'll just go google that now...

Seriously though, I am interested in music production programs. I'd love to put a danceable beat into Leaf House by Animal Collective. Any day now I'm gonna download Fruity Loops. And then there's Acid, and pro tools, and etc.

Anyone got a good intro website for this kind of stuff?

Use Acid for beatmatching and loops.
