Other than the Manic Street Preachers and Muse, that's a good top 10.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Matt Bellamy lays down some more grandiose piano attacks for his next album at his newly built studio:

[Kerrang chief mouthpiece]: "These are the real opinions of proper rock fans."

Rockist swine.

The BBC: [Ozzy Osbourne], who bit off the head of a live bat on stage in 1982...

It was a dead bat. He bit the head off a -live- dove in label promo meeting. His box set will have a song he did with one of the Muppets, which he did not bite the head off of.

George Smith, Wednesday, 16 February 2005 17:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Rockist swine.

Kerrang's hip hop coverage has always sucked.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

fuck you

stevie (stevie), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

i mean, i got a review of the nefilim modulation systems album in there. ergo, kerrang!'s hip-hop coverage = already better than most rock mags.

ahem.

stevie (stevie), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

s/t Sabbath lp as best Sabbath lp? odd.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

What a laughable list.

Stanztrigger, Wednesday, 16 February 2005 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

i thought it was paranoid that hit the top spot? s/t is my favourite sabbath though...

stevie (stevie), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 17:54 (twenty-one years ago)

i mean, i got a review of the nefilim modulation systems album in there. ergo, kerrang!'s hip-hop coverage = already better than most rock mags.

ahem.

I was just kidding, dude. I like Kerrang.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i kind of guessed that, i just saw your post as an excuse to type the words "nefilim modulation systems", which i so love to do...!

stevie (stevie), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 18:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Absolution is apparnetly not even their best album.

billstevejim, Wednesday, 16 February 2005 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

when does Cake Decorating Monthly release it's Top 100 Acid Jazz albums list? after that Kerrang list i am licking my lips for some more credible music opinion.

funny thing is, the reviews in Kerrang are often pretty decent. i guess this must have been a reader's vote thing.

fsharp (fsharp), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 18:48 (twenty-one years ago)

It was a readers vote.

Lord Rockingham, Wednesday, 16 February 2005 21:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Surprising amount of hardcore punk (Discharge/Exploited) in the list. Killing Joke at 61, bearing in mind what finished in the top 25 I don't know if that's good or bad.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 22:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Did Alex In NYC vote?

Lord Rockingham, Thursday, 17 February 2005 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Where are Venom, Carcass, Napalm Death, Cathedral, Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Anathema and Bolt Thrower in this top 100?

Siegbran (eofor), Thursday, 17 February 2005 12:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a quick look in Borders and most of those bands are in it but unfortunately I cannot remember where they were placed. Not sure if Bolt Thrower or MDB were in it.

Lord Rockingham, Thursday, 17 February 2005 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Carcass are in the 90 to 100 bit
Cathedral are higher than 90, as are Napalm Death

Why the fuck are Therapy? in there 3 times?
Why are Muse in there at all?
How can Ash be a rock band?

blah blah blah etc etc etc and so on. Lists are rubbish, but I look at them and they... too late

sonicred (sonicred), Friday, 18 February 2005 02:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Muse’s Absolution is two years old and is the sixth best album of all time? Origin Of Symmetry is so much better, IMO, and also shows up in the top 25?

Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and the (fucking) Darkness put out some of the best rock albums of all time?

Def Leppard was good, maybe, when you were 12 but does it stand up against the Clash, Zeppelin, or even Sex Pistols? To sample their list but did the Beatles, Who, Kinks, and/or Stones not exist?

Who are the Wildhearts and Lostprophets?

Ash’s Free All Angels might be the worst album they put out.

Stereophonics’ Performance And Cocktails is a pretty good album but Word Gets Around just rocks and might be even better but again, top 25?

BeeOK (boo radley), Friday, 18 February 2005 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

The Wildhearts - cut-price Motorhead, with dreadlocks

Lost Prophets - Welsh pretty boy metal band

RE, Friday, 18 February 2005 11:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Lost Prophets - Welsh pretty boy metal band

PRETTY?!?!

hobart paving (hobart paving), Friday, 18 February 2005 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I am ver surprised that songs for the deaf didn't make more of a showing.

hmmm (hmmm), Friday, 18 February 2005 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Eh?

NickB (NickB), Friday, 18 February 2005 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Lord Rockingham, Wednesday, 2 March 2005 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

The absence of Reign in Blood or anything by Metallica from this list is kind of odd...

M Carty (mj_c), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

They're not British bands.

Lord Rockingham, Wednesday, 2 March 2005 15:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yeah, British... not my brightest day today!
