a slightly wider urban radio remit

so on one of philly's two "urban" stations (not counting 102.1, which plays hiphop/r&b -and- bad lifehouse style rock -and- cheesy rollerink dance) i have heard both the most recent n'sync single and "i'm a slave 4 u." the odd thing was that it wasn't -that- odd hearing them sandwiched inbetween usher and ludacris, mostly because they both (for lack of a more pc phrase) cop african american pop moves on these singles. is this an isolated incident, or is there a slight breakdown of musical hegemony on yr radios as well? (i suppose this only applies to the americans, as i'm still getting a handle on how brit radio works.) is it even a good or necessary move really?

to answer my own last question i'd say that it's certainly not "necessary", but diversity is always good blah blah.

I remember that, when celebrity and the "pop" was released, nsync did a guest bit on one of BET's countdown shows. Everyone acted normal and chummy (hey, great to have you back...) when it was pretty obviously the first time they'd ever been on or had a video played. I assume this is a deliberate strategy by managers and, in this case, it was really strange, in some part because of the copped moves, e.g. the extended timberlake-beatbox bits.

btw, what is the name of that n'sync single. not pop, but the one where justin goes for his maxwell on "this woman's work" soul-whisper thang.

better than "african american pop moves" = hip-hop/r&b pop moves for pc quality.

I like the mix station in Chicago that is named THE MIX and plays all chart music, regardless of type.

Also, there is the "dance" station which will play brit, and the r&b station which will not, and Luda is everywhere.

Would that be "Gone" you're alluding to, Jess?
