Forgive me if there's already a thread on the topic (if so, point me to it cuz i can't find it) but i'm really curious about how many musicians and artists teach their craft professionally. I'm thinking about people like Fred Frith @ Mills College and Sam Beam @ U-Miami. Who can you add to the list?

David Grubbs, as sharp an instructor as a dresser, graced The Art Institute of Chicago a few semesters years ago; who knows where now.

I seem to remember reading that Sam Beam teaches film studies, though. Still academic, but not really his craft (or at least the one for which he is best known).

Greg Turner from the Angry Samoans (among other bands) teaches math at a university in New Mexico now, I think. (He's taught in California too, as I recall.)

i know a guy who takes guitar lessons from richard lloyd.

i guess, pretty obviously, the vast majority of working jazz musicians teach in some capacity or are at the very least open to teaching the occasional lesson. even relatively high profile people.

Mentioned this before, but Pat DiNizio of the Smithereens taught music part-time at my son's NYC elementary school until recently. He gave away guitar picks with his picture embossed on em. Uh, neat.
