Heard it last night -- enjoyed it but I'll have to listen it again to see if it leaves more of an impact.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 18 February 2005 22:50 (twenty years ago)

yeah, it's not bad, but agf's lyrics, if i may call them that, aren't all that. programming's dope tho. i'd rather hear agf reciting poetry in german than in english, methinks

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 19 February 2005 01:50 (twenty years ago)

That's a great track.

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 19 February 2005 01:56 (twenty years ago)

I wondered if that mp3 was typical of the album actually (I had heard that already). And how/if it compared to her 'Westernization Completed' album which was quietly astounding imo. I like her 'lyrics' on that.

I'll likely get this very soon, just a bit concerned about my spending recently :-)

"All in all a discordantly bijou record" HAHA, i love that, does it make any sense? thanks for alerting me to this, i will definately get it. I didnt realise AGF was the vocalist before now.

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 19 February 2005 02:01 (twenty years ago)

i love the way they are willing to take the risk of singing something so obvious it's almost embarrassing - for example: singing "Break on through/... to the other side" on this track, even though you really thing they are NOT REALLY GOING TO SING THAT LINE SURELY, they keep putting it off, tantalising you with the possibility before dong it, the effect is slightly comic; or that line about "i'm cleaning up black coffee and feta cheese" off the Luomo record which i just find hysterical. It's great!

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 19 February 2005 02:08 (twenty years ago)

wait 'til adam hears about this!

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 19 February 2005 02:14 (twenty years ago)

http://www.poemproducer.com/

there's even a page for "FILES FOR REMIXERS AND BOOTLEGGAS".

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 19 February 2005 02:20 (twenty years ago)

i meant this website not that one.

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 19 February 2005 02:25 (twenty years ago)

adam.r.l. (nordicskilla), Friday, 25 February 2005 19:58 (twenty years ago)

Wait...is this out? Can I buy it? And where? Hook me up, ken taylrr!

adam.r.l. (nordicskilla), Friday, 25 February 2005 20:01 (twenty years ago)

Boomkat just rejected my credit card. Tits!
(general expression of frustrateds.. not directed at the pelicanneck guys).

Guess I'll see this sometime next week.

That is if adam doesn't snap my copy up first.

itchy bits (itchy bits), Friday, 25 February 2005 20:15 (twenty years ago)

Hahaha! I'm not allowed to use my credit card! :(

adam.r.l. (nordicskilla), Friday, 25 February 2005 20:16 (twenty years ago)

I have been waiting for this album for a very long time! Does it sound like the tracks they've done in the past?

Sonny, Ah!!1 (Sonny A.), Friday, 25 February 2005 20:23 (twenty years ago)

oh, i like that breakDOORS.mp3, though it doesn't quite hit me as viscerally as "Return of Us" or whatever that song was (fuck I love that song...it's rare that I am thinking about a compilation track 2 years later, but that one really hit me)... why are you assholes listening to the lyrics? actually the "break on through" thing is funny, but that's the only noticeable line in the song. this isnt the single is it?

Sonny, Ah!!1 (Sonny A.), Friday, 25 February 2005 20:27 (twenty years ago)

got a promo last week. it bored the crap outta me.

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 25 February 2005 20:32 (twenty years ago)

two weeks pass...
I got this in the mail today. It's not grabbing me so far.

:(

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 17 March 2005 23:52 (twenty years ago)

The Wire called it "quietly great" but that's not what mark p said

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Friday, 18 March 2005 04:41 (twenty years ago)

I'm fucking loving it guys, give it a second spin, seriously.

Jena (JenaP), Friday, 18 March 2005 05:09 (twenty years ago)

i guess i should listen to it again huh?

maybe tonight, before i bed.

(whoa xpost)

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 18 March 2005 05:10 (twenty years ago)

Somehow, I don't think you're going to like it. But maybe before bed, yes.

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Friday, 18 March 2005 05:25 (twenty years ago)

Actually, yes, I do love it for the reasons that I am quite impressed with the work these two have put forth on this record. Vladislav has managed to put back his ego a bit instrumentally, still managing to be tasteful and innovative. And AGF's lyrics, while still sounding mechanic (sonically) to these ears, does actually take on some interesting themes, starting with track 2. I love their individual output and I know that they're a couple, and this sounds like a comfortable medium between the two.

Jena (JenaP), Friday, 18 March 2005 05:32 (twenty years ago)

Hmmm...I can't pretend that the lyrics are good as much as I try. I prefer the rambling nonsense lyrics to the errrr...more poetic ones. the production is great but then you are talking about (in my opinion) one of the best producers in the world.
yup yup

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Friday, 18 March 2005 05:36 (twenty years ago)

trip hop is back??

scg, Friday, 18 March 2005 07:27 (twenty years ago)

SHUT UP

( ;) )

VIC MACKEY (nordicskilla), Friday, 18 March 2005 07:47 (twenty years ago)

that, or illbient :o)

Jena (JenaP), Friday, 18 March 2005 13:26 (twenty years ago)

fascinatingly ungainly beats. it sounds pretty good if you dont listen to the mostly embarrasing lyrics.

i'll try harder...

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 23:02 (twenty years ago)

haha!

rive.r (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 23:18 (twenty years ago)
