OK gang, I [along with Sara Sherr] will be writing an indie column for a magazine. The problem is, we need to come up with a TWO WORD TITLE and frankly, we suck at naming things.

Here is the description [i know, it sounds eh]:

XXX is looking for a columnist to write about indie rock for their
12" singles section. Our defintion of indie rock includes everything
from danceable stuff (!!!, Moving Units, VHS or Beta) to post-rock to
potentially No Wave and indie/electronic crossover.

This is what we've come up with:

- two cool rock chicks listening to neu! [our original idea but it was nixed when they told us about the word limit]
- totally wired [taken already]
- cool schmool
- pop narcotic [they liked this one the best but it wasnt just right]

this is what our friends have come up with:

- secret dance
- cheap cuts
- press play

maybe you can come up with something better?

See, I always like column titles that don't have an obvious connotation. Which is why, for the last 13 years or so, I've been intermittently writing a column called "Smallmouth" for at least three different publications. (It actually is a music reference, but the derivation is enough of an in-joke that maybe half a dozen people in the world would get it.)

Yeah, this was the best one. Too many words -- but replace "new" with "neu!" in any of the other suggestions and you've got it.
