she's really good; I remember seeing her play a big 12-string at the Center for Southern Folklore in Memphis a few years back. She really had it. I've got a couple of her singles from the late '90s--her take on Bowie's "Boys Keep Swinging" is quite good.

all I know of her is that she sang backup on Sonic Youth's "Little Trouble Girl" with Kim Deal and Melissa Dunn, and on 2 songs on Two Dollar Guitar's Burned & Buried album ("Song For A Dead Friend" and "Let Me Bring You Down").

Last I heard she had settled down to mom-hood. I hope she continues making music though. The Rude Angel disc on Okra-Tone is a great anthology of her stuff to go with. I saw her a few years ago on the last Kropotkins tour; Moe Tucker was in the band and Lou Reed sat in the front row at Tonic making nyah-nyah faces at her!

Lorette V. lived next door to a friend of mine during my Memphis days. If I remember correctly, local lore had it that when Dennis Quaid came to town to do that Jerry Lee film, he had his eye set on Lorette, but I think she was seein' Tav Falco at the time. She's a cutie.
