I'd only seen the drum battle once since the original broadcast, some years ago. Great to see it again. In a way it's a perfect counterpoint to That Notorious Rant because there's no side dudes blowing clams or anything, you could tell he was in his own perfect nirvana (and he wasn't going to let some Muppet outdrum him!).

I just read on his site that at 4 years old he was performing in a Vaudeville show as "Traps, the Drum Wonder."

By the way, out of typical Jewish curiosity, does anyone know if he was Jewish? He was born Bernard Rich and his parents were vaudevillians, after all.
