it was the first proper song in herbert's dj set last night. it followed the piece that got put out on soundslike that rearranges the bush speech into alphabetical order. basically it was this kind of skittering drone... a bit like a tuned vacuum... with a really nasty bass synth (think something bouncing between square and saw wave) kind of doing it's own thing. and the drum beat from "billie jean".

so, any guesses?

Nevermind... figured it out on me own. It was "Bobby Can't Dance" by Mr. Oizo.

ok so i found this, but now i want more like it... anyone got any recommendations... maybe something really dirty sounding, but precise. clear dancey beats with fucked up sounds and noises going on. something like a cross between oizo, areal stuff and jackson... micro edits with big loud messy sounds.

the latter half of "unborn baby" by speedranch and venetian snares features the groove from mj's "beat it" beefed up with gabber kicks and screeching noise.

hmmm... am fimiliar with all these things, and while pronsanto and losoul get kinda close to what i'm talking about, neither of them really hit the nail on the head. i guess i need dirtier than these. less organized but with a beat you can still dance to. in a lot of ways i'd say the new villalobos comes close too, but the emphasis on sound design is a little distracting in that instance.
