Help the sellouts

As a tangent to the Help the Aged thread. This one's about drifting apart from friends of youth & angsty idealism.

Two from the Jam:
Burning Sky
Because we've all grown up and we've got our lives,
and the values that we had once upon a time, seem stupid now 'cause the rent must be paid,
and some bonds severed and others made

Thick as Theives
But something came along that changes our minds,
I don't know what and I don't know why,
But we seemed to grow up in a flash of time,
While we watched our ideals helplessly unwind.
No, we're no longer as thick as thieves, no

and Lloyd Cole:
Hey Rusty
Then I got a job
White collar
Turn Coat

Strangelove:
Runaway Brothers
"Today - life's a different story today
sad but yet not sad in a way
people never do stay the same

the middle of the road is no private cul-de-sac
i can't get from the cab to the curb
without some little jerk on my back
don't harass me, can't you tell
i'm going home, i'm tired as hell
i'm not the cat i used to be
i got a kid, i'm 33

The Kinks-Do You Remember Walter?

Walter, you are just an echo of the world we knew so long ago/ If you saw me now you wouldn't even know my name/ I bet you're fat and married and you're always home in bed by half-past eight/And if I talked about the old times you'd get bored and you'll have nothing left to say/yes people often change, but memories of people can remain.

The Reivers have a song called "The End of the Day" that is about the pleasures of domestic life, which may not be exactly what you're looking for. The only line I remember is "Goofy dancing fun, with the oldest one." or something. I find the song quite touching, actually.

Minor Threat, "Look Back and Laugh"

"You know who I am," he said
The speaker was an angel
He coughed and shook his crumpled wings
Closed his eyes and moved his lips
"It's time we should be going" (Waiting so long, I've been waiting so, waiting so)
Look back in anger, driven by the night
Till you come
(Waiting so long, I've been waiting so, waiting so)
Look back in anger, see it in my eyes
Till you come No one seemed to hear him
So he leafed through a magazine
And, yawning, rubbed the sleep away
Very sane he seemed to me (Waiting so long, I've been waiting so, waiting so)
Look back in anger, driven by the night
Till you come
(Waiting so long, I've been waiting so, waiting so)
Look back in anger, feel it in my voice
Till you come
(Waiting so long, ahhh...)
(Waiting so long, I've been waiting so, waiting so) (repeat ad inf.) David Bowie, "Look Back in Anger"

Good call on Minor Threat. "Salad Days" and "Cashing In" would fit too. "What happened to you? You're not the same!" disillusionment is one of the defining emotions of Hardcore and/or adolescence.
