lots of kompakt I know, but kompakt is good and she likes Michael Mayer but doesn't know other stuff.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:02 (twenty years ago)

It has "I Want A Dog" = it is perfection, regardless of the other songs.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:03 (twenty years ago)

if someone gave me this mix I would think very highly of them!

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:05 (twenty years ago)

I like it, but is your crush into this kind of groove???

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:07 (twenty years ago)

I would give it an 8.75

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:08 (twenty years ago)

She has the Mayer album and likes it alot!

I don't like putting upbeat anthems on mix cds, for some reason. they feel kind of impossible to own.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:10 (twenty years ago)

Ronan, is this your first ever crush CD?

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:12 (twenty years ago)

'Heartbeats' is too sad a song for a first flush of love.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:13 (twenty years ago)

No. I made one for the long term rubbish crush too, you know, that one?

But this one is more important. I may not actually hand it over for a while, I just wanted to make it to keep me mildly sane cos I'm bored.

x-post I find "Heartbeats" not so sad, it's like whirlwind love, to me.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:15 (twenty years ago)

I think maybe I find everything good sad.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:22 (twenty years ago)

God, I can't believe I just posted that.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:22 (twenty years ago)

No I understand. I find loads of electronic music, really good stuff, kind of happy/sad.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:26 (twenty years ago)

'Intuition/Lucky Charm' looks a bit odd sitting in the middle, but then it's kind of a downer track (albeit a deeply lovely downer track)

Sven Bastard (blueski), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:28 (twenty years ago)

what is the most erotic track on here?

Sven Bastard (blueski), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:29 (twenty years ago)

Steve!

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:29 (twenty years ago)

(Max Berlin)

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:29 (twenty years ago)

Heartbeats is pure vhadfhaushfc, aye.

If someone I even only half-fancied gave me this mix I'd probably go all emo over them. That probably means it's good.

RickyT (RickyT), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:31 (twenty years ago)

I think maybe the mix needs to end with 'American Pie'.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:35 (twenty years ago)

That would certainly stop me going emo.

RickyT (RickyT), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:37 (twenty years ago)

end with: Depeche Mode - A Question of Lust

DJ Martian (djmartian), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:37 (twenty years ago)

This is a six. I am biased, however, because I have given many tens in my day...

also, mix CDs are for pussies.

The real sign of comittment/lust is the tape.

Jimmy Mod Has Returned With Spices And Silks (ModJ), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:38 (twenty years ago)

Sorry - I didn't mean 'American Pie'. I meant 'If You Need Someone' by the Field Mice.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:39 (twenty years ago)

I was going to put some psycho sex tune on it. Soft Cell or something.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:43 (twenty years ago)

I think you should (seriously) put Superpitcher's 'To Turn You On' on there, because a)it's fucking brilliant and b) its title will get her "in the mood".

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:45 (twenty years ago)

Ronan if i show a bit of leg can you send me a copy of this mix too?

Sven Bastard (blueski), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:46 (twenty years ago)

it'd feel weird Steve, but maybe.

do you think Alba?

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:48 (twenty years ago)

actually i think i nailed why i prefer the original 'Heartbeat' - the remix loses the slow sexiness of it, which i think is just as powerful as the euphoric tilt ala Rex

Sven Bastard (blueski), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:49 (twenty years ago)

Yes, I do.

Is this CD actually mixed in like, the omnipotent baby sense?

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:50 (twenty years ago)

alba could be right - Superpitcher seems to turn the ladies on, cross reference e.g Attomick Brane LiveJ

DJ Martian (djmartian), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:51 (twenty years ago)

no unmixed

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 23 February 2005 23:51 (twenty years ago)

does anyone actually have a story with a positive ending involving a crush mix cd?

Rizz (Rizz), Thursday, 24 February 2005 00:08 (twenty years ago)

this has a nice mix of happy/sad hard/soft which seems to be playing it safe, but i like the balance. "to turn you on" is a good recommendation. the losoul track on here just kills me (in a good way). the happy/sad quality is probably my number one musical crush. (not to derail the thread, i just wanted to commiserate with alba)

basquiat (disco stu), Thursday, 24 February 2005 00:17 (twenty years ago)

I heard the Jose Gonzalez version of "Heartbeats" for the first time yesterday and had the urge to put it on a crush mix near some Kings of Convenience stuff, but I think that'd firmly mark me as emo corny accoustic guitar fux0r.

mike h. (mike h.), Thursday, 24 February 2005 00:23 (twenty years ago)

that's cool if that's what she's into. my girlfriend recently decided she hated "electronic music" and that it is "unnecessary" and threatened to burn my records.
so i made a cd for her for valentines day.
it had:

1 hot sand - shocking blue
2 little doll - the stooges
3 i'd rather dance with you - kings of convenience
4 once around the block - badly drawn boy
5 this is more - new buffalo
6 disney girls - the beach boys
7 neighbourhood #1 - the arcade fire
8 stella was a diver and she was always down - interpol
9 i'm sticking with you - lou reed
10 finest dreams - richard x
11 something about us - daft punk
12 magic in the air - badly drawn boy
13 i will - the beatles

glenny g2003 (glenny g2003), Thursday, 24 February 2005 00:43 (twenty years ago)

so i made a cd for her for valentines day.

Oh, I was hoping this was going to read "so I left her for her sister" or something.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 24 February 2005 00:49 (twenty years ago)

"This music is... unnecessary!"

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 24 February 2005 00:50 (twenty years ago)

my girlfriend of 3 years was initially won over by a mix i made for her...

firstworldman (firstworldman), Thursday, 24 February 2005 00:56 (twenty years ago)

People are so stupid.
