you know my softcore tastes in synthpop - is it worth shelling out for the FS album or should I blow the money carousing ?

has it got good noises, is it catchy etc ?

music + carouse = go to the show! their live show is very very impressive. dancers, etc. noises = very good.

the songs seem to be produced and recorded very well though too... hrm!

listening to it now - first impressions = way much better than miss kittin + hacker.

love the cover - shop assistant looked me over with thinly-veiled disgust [no, that's not the norm!]

one month passes...
To be quite frank, I feel it's all a sham. First and foremost, the music is well,....Engaging. BUT BUT BUT that doesn't mean the show or PRODUCT is any good. There are many many great bands out there. To pick up on the 80's an/or electro-synth and pop may be clever, but doesn't make for a tried and true album. Meaning- give it more than 3 listens- I dare you. The show itself is a really mediocre version of broadway- meets-The Hunger. I frankly would rather see CATS. They are washed up and ripping off really viable artists like Brittany Spears and N'Sync. I'll go pop music anytime....

Fischerspooner I'd probably spend your cash on the remixes of Emerge (total classic). A few nice noises does not the rest of an album make. Or something.

fifteen years pass...

The album SIR, which is being produced by Michael Stipe of R.E.M. and Boots, will be released on February 16, 2018 on Ultra [2].

That NY Times profile of Michael Stipe got me looking up the song he co-wrote/produced with Fischerspooner, which also led to their whole album Sir, which is something (in a v good way). Assuming the lyrics are mostly/all Stipe, fascinating to hear him burn away all the layers of opacity in his R.E.M. lyrics.

Liked what I heard of 'Sir' especially 'Togetherness', had no idea Stipe was involved!

i didn't even realise there was a 'Sir' Fischerspooner album.
aha, and herein lies the reason :

i.e. no cd edition.

I was surprised how timid some reviews of Sir were, focusing on Stipe/Spooner gossip and the band's past albums rather than how hardcore the album is, in the Patrick Cowley vein. Then again, this Forbes (!) interview with Stipe and Spooner goes further into it.

Two things about "Have Fun Tonight": it's a great anthem to non-monogamy (gay or otherwise) and also feels like a counterpart to Miley's "Bang My Box" from around the same time.
