I'm not expert enough to judge precisely how good the writing is on this board - but what I would like to say is that although I've avidly read music mags for the decade, about a year ago I lost interest altogether, and it's no coincidence that this coincided with my discovering ILM.
Q, the NME, and Rolling Stone were the first to go. I persisted a bit longer with Uncut and Mojo, but these days I wouldn't even consider shelling out four pounds for either of those publications. Not that it's a matter of this board being free - you can get Q and NME for free online, but how many people who are familiar with ILM ever bother with those dreary sites - I don't, even if greenspan is down for the day.
I have my favourite posters obviously (Dave Q, Ally and Mark S) but it wouldn't really be fair to pick those three out as the reason I keep coming back - there's another ten or twenty posters who I consistently enjoy and then there's all the occasional posters who chip in when they have something particularly wothwhile to contribute. And it's this lively debate and exchange of ideas as much as the many fine writers who frequent this place which makes ILM so endlessly fascinating and enjoyable.
In short, I'd like to say thanks to everyone for making my work days so much more bearable than they would be otherwise. And now to the question - how many other people here feel as strong an attachment to this site as I do, and why?

I heart ILM just because of the discussion and the lack of editorial bias. I think all magazines should have more than one person reviewing everything, forum style, because then people would get a better feel for the music in question, I think. I also hate ILM because now I never get any work done.

I HAVE A REASON TO KEEP LIVING.
Well, I've been derided by The Gathering (the Killing Joke list) on occaision of succumbing to the "inherent geekiness" of ILM
There's something I could say about this, but somehow it says itself. :-)
it's never boring, and it's usually pretty informative
Yay us!
Or is that what Nedward alludes to by saying jack squat? I must learn to master the subtle art of shutting up.
