Chris O., Monday, 28 February 2005 22:57 (twenty years ago)

I've already listened to the Sofa CD once. Will have some positive things to say about it. But I'm gonna listen to it again first.

Jeff W (zebedee), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 16:16 (twenty years ago)

Will be unwrapping and playing the Josephine Foster tonight. Looks really intriguing!

Mike - the regular RSS feed works just fine. I can now 'see' t.d. updates from my LJ friends page. Cool.

Jeff W (zebedee), Friday, 8 April 2005 15:55 (twenty years ago)

Omg someone actually does this. Sorry for the hubris of me posturing as over 1.6% of ilx... If you lack any of my entries, email below is real.

OleM (OleM), Saturday, 9 April 2005 01:12 (twenty years ago)

First hiccough yesterday, as unable to get hold of Philistines Jr CD. That one will have to be postponed to later in the year. Sorry jel.

I did another one on the list instead. Write-up to follow.

Likely future problems:
April 29 - DJ dB (Matos's pick - I did try e-mailing, dunno whether you got the message)
April 30 - Scorched Earth Policy (chris andrews)
May 9 - Jake Fairley (MindInRewind)

If anyone can help hook me up with copies of these, please get in touch.

Other than that, I think I'm good through mid-May at least.

Jeff W (zebedee), Friday, 15 April 2005 12:08 (twenty years ago)

I can YSI the DJ dB, Jeff.

stephen morris (stephen morris), Friday, 15 April 2005 12:20 (twenty years ago)

I have no idea what that means. But I'll find out and get back to you. Thanks.

Jeff W (zebedee), Friday, 15 April 2005 15:19 (twenty years ago)

Dude, he's offering to c on your t's.

Plus-Tech Whiz Kid (Disco) (Barima), Friday, 15 April 2005 15:24 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I was wondering where you were going to find all this music! You must have a huge music collection and/or a good high-speed internet connection.

I can YSI (yousendit) the Jake Fairley (although I've had problems with YSI'ing very large files recently. I'll get it to you somehow).

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Friday, 15 April 2005 15:25 (twenty years ago)

haha, sorry. YSI is yousendit.com, a site that allows you to upload files and send them to friends. You'd have to wait until I get off of work, tho.

stephen morris (stephen morris), Friday, 15 April 2005 15:37 (twenty years ago)

I assume yesterday's CD was supposed to be New Forms. That's what I listened to anyway.

[I didn't really need to post that. This is really a not very cunningly disguised thread bump. Sorry to be a pain.]

Jeff W (zebedee), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 10:12 (twenty years ago)

Haikunym, I finally got hold of a copy of La Argentinidad al Palo yesterday and there's only 1 disc! Possibly what I have is a CD of selections from a double album? Anyway from what I've heard of it so far, it's a lot of fun.

Jeff W (zebedee), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 09:11 (nineteen years ago)

there is another disc, volume 2, which I got for 10 bucks from amazon but have never seen in stores. it is also the better of the two.

Latest asks: the Landed and Onleyville Sound System CDs. The UK doesn't seem to be very big on Providence, RI noise dude bands. So if anyone can help out with a copy of those, e-mail below is the real one.

I'll be burning most of the January stuff for a couple of people, so if anyone else wants a sampler, just email me. Address below is the real one.

Oh, and Matt Haikunym: I have now tracked down a CD of Vol.2 of the Bersuit (listening to it now in fact). Comments on it to follow on my LJ... tomorrow probably.

Jeff W (zebedee), Thursday, 16 February 2006 22:07 (nineteen years ago)

Oops - I just realised an excerpt from "Drumming" should have been on the January comp (ha, that's the second time on this thread it "got skipped").

Oh well, it wouldn't have fitted on the CD anyway. I'll stick it on the February comp when I get there.

Jeff W (zebedee), Wednesday, 5 July 2006 12:59 (eighteen years ago)

Final reckoning

1. As mentioned above, I didn't do the Merzbox.
2. In addition, there were three indie acts that had two different CDs nominated (Bonnie Prince Billy, The Microphones, Built To Spill) and frankly I felt I more than did my duty by listening to one of their records.
3. One album (by The Paragons) was effectively nominated twice under two different titles, so I only did that one once.
4. The audiobook nominated by Lee F# doesn't actually exist, so we agreed on a substitute ("The Maltese Falcon") by correspondence.
5. Otherwise, task completed and more or less to schedule. In addition, I threw in some extra CDs to make up for the ones I skipped, so at least 365 were listened to during the year. See playlists upthread for clues.

Jeff W (zebedee), Wednesday, 5 July 2006 13:02 (eighteen years ago)

From the journal:

'So what have you learned?', Part 1

'So what have you learned?', Part 2

Credits list

OK, that's all folks.

Someone else should do this (or similar) now.
