I have never smelled The Stone Roses, so I can't tell you if they're funky or not.

Dan Perry, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I, for one, would like to hear you say "neigh".

Three Dog Night were funkier.

has anything been funky since 1975 or so? that didn't sample something from the period?

Prince.

The Roses have about as much actual funk as Eric Clapton has actual blues.

No, not funky. Crap rock, on the Second Coming, possibly erring on the funky side, but not actually funky, as such. They are rock. Were rock.

Actually, "Fool's Gold" and the last third of "I am the Resurrection" are indeed funky. "One Love" is merely murky.

four years pass...
No, the extended version of One Love is actually the reason I went digging through my gigantic box of cassettes.

On the way I realized Stone Roses were ridiculously brilliant etc. I much prefer their singles and b-sides a la "Complete Stone Roses" rather than their first album. I realize this may come across as blasphemy...I have no problem with the first album.

If I recall a subtle funkyness was what made them stand out for me, and hype bottomless hype

reni and mani had some groove. i don't know if i'd go all the way to funky, but they moved pretty well. whatever happened to reni anyway?

Dammit, Dan Perry stole my answer four and a half years ago.

everyone knows that the soup dragons were the true masters of da funk.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 9 July 2006 15:25 (nineteen years ago)

hahaha you're kidding right? What album should I try to convince me of this?

Lenny Koggins (Bimble...), Sunday, 9 July 2006 15:30 (nineteen years ago)

eighteen years pass...

One of my favorite memories of college is playing drums on “adored” at a house party. That drop

The greatest opening song ever. The radio single is an atrocity-you need that build-up
