Tommorow evening I'm dj-ing at a night where 20 odd of us are all playing our top three records of all time, if someone plays a song before you you can't play it and order is picked out of the hat, you don't know what anyone else is gonna play and you don't know you're playing till the person before you has started there set.

Well I narrowed my list down to 14 and having trouble narrowing to the final three, I have a feeling will go right to the wire but any help choosing would be appreciated...

(appologies in advance for glaring ommissions sojme are because I know other people will be playing them some are because I have different taste to you etc etc.. blah blah)

Joy Division - Love will tear us apart
Communards - Don't leave me this way
Radiohead - Talkshow Host
Smokie Robinson - Tears of a Clown
The Cure - Boys Don't Cry
Otis Redding - Mr Pitiful
Marvin Gaye - I heard it through the Grapevine
The Housemartins - Happy Hour
Human League - Don't you want me
Fischerspooner - emerge
Elvis - Suspicious minds
Donna Summer - I Feel Love
Cornershop - Brimful of Asha (Norman Cook Mix)
AC DC - Back in Black

thoughts....

If I never hear "Tears of a Clown" again, it'll be too soon.

If I was choosing from that list, it'd be Joy Division, Donna Summer, with Marvin Gaye and the Cure fighting it out for the third spot.

you seem like quite the depressive, maudlin type, judging from that list. as such I'd stick w/Back in Black (and I don't even like AC/DC), Don't You Want Me Baby, and maybe Mr. Pitiful.

I'll admit pretty much all of my list is over exposed but in an 'of all time thing' and with my taste thats somewhat inevitable

Back in Black
Love Will Tear Us Apart
Suspicious Minds

are the best songs on that list.

Definitely JD. Marvin Gaye's IHITTGV would be on there if I hadn't been aurally molested by oldies radio as a young boy.

well seems JD is set is stone now then, it was my biggest cert now the hard final two...

SUSPICIOUS MINDS

derrick (derrick), Tuesday, 1 March 2005 07:58 (twenty years ago)

Oh man. Talk Show Host. That has got to be one of the top 3 Radiohead songs ever or something.

Beyond that, I'll go with Donna Summer and Housemartins. (sorry I'm a little worn out on LWTUA)

Bimble... (Bimble...), Tuesday, 1 March 2005 07:59 (twenty years ago)

"suspicious minds" is the best, yeah. "grapevine" and "don't you want me" are good too. "mr pitiful" is the only one i've heard that i don't really like.

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Tuesday, 1 March 2005 08:16 (twenty years ago)

Well at least I feel better about being indecisive it's not like theres any consensus here.

I am still tempted to make up two copies of a cd-r with all tracks on and then pick the three tracks at random.

but surely that would belittle my choices

oh I wish i could make a decision...

I'd just like to pipe up in defence of Tears of a Clown.
I love that song with the love of a 1,000 men.
