I got the "Freak Scene" single a few years ago and couldn't wait to dig deeper. Such an incredibly great song that totally sums up an era. But nothing after that came close for me. I still like the "Fossils" comp, a few good ones on there.

I'm unsure whether I like Lou Barlow's recent cover of "Round And Round" by Ratt. I suppose I would label that a "search."

There's some great songs on Mascis's last solo disc - "Everybody Lets Me Down" comes to mind.

Yes - and I'd even add Green Mind, too. And, heck, Whatever's Cool with Me is pretty great. Where You Been can be skipped over, though. And the first album is a bit awkward sounding, although it has two essential DinoJr tracks: "Severed Lips" and "Quest".
