dj koze aka the monaco shranze (sp?) is rocking. I like to mix with Richard Pinhas-Iceland (Volga Select Mix).

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 20:21 (twenty years ago)

Why isn't this thread called "Wait up, hold a minute..... let's talk Speicher"?

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 20:28 (twenty years ago)

I like Speicher. I like that Wighnomy Brothers track. I LOVE the Wighnomy Brothers and their amazing mix at Beta Lounge.

adam.r.l. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 20:29 (twenty years ago)

I have not heard their amazing mix at Beta Lounge, but now I want to.

When we were in Cologne one of the Wighnomy Brothers scowled at me.

Another Speicher I love is

Voigt and Voigt-Vision 05.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 20:30 (twenty years ago)

"pansies"?! who are you callin' a pansy? (weeps)

and yes!! i love vision 05 too!

aw he scowled at you? i thought the wighnomy bros. seemed very sweet and cuddly!

geeta (geeta), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 20:33 (twenty years ago)

there i go again, making this thread all soft!

geeta (geeta), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 20:34 (twenty years ago)

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 20:35 (twenty years ago)

I don't like to think about this scowling. Sorry, I am a pansy I guess.

adam.r.l. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 20:36 (twenty years ago)

oops i should have shifted all my posts on the kopmakt thread to this one

can i report thats stuff about 26 &27 here or is that bad?

ambrose (ambrose), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 21:14 (twenty years ago)

Has Alter Ego's Speicher contribution been released yet? Anyone heard it?

JoB (JoB), Wednesday, 2 March 2005 21:48 (twenty years ago)

I'm new to this series but if the rest are as good as Speicher 10...well!

W i l l (common_person), Thursday, 3 March 2005 02:29 (twenty years ago)

LET'S GET READY TO ROCK WITH 2 BYTE CRUSHING PLATTERS THAT WILL MAKE YOUR MEMBRANES BURST!

KOMPAKT Promo Writer (Michael F Gill), Thursday, 3 March 2005 05:14 (twenty years ago)

PLUR

geeta (geeta), Thursday, 3 March 2005 06:03 (twenty years ago)

dammit that was supposed to be in rainbow colors!!

geeta (geeta), Thursday, 3 March 2005 06:04 (twenty years ago)

All the Vision tracks are great - 3 and 5 are very pretty but 4 is surely the nuttiest. Also Naum's "Ari" and "Maglen". And the Blitz tracks! (yeah yeah actually Auftrieb I know, but the one that didn't make it onto Speicher 2 is amazing as well).

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 3 March 2005 07:03 (twenty years ago)

God I can't wait to get my record player back.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 3 March 2005 07:08 (twenty years ago)

vision 04 = icy goth epic! ivan smagghe played it when i saw him at fabric!

geeta (geeta), Thursday, 3 March 2005 07:29 (twenty years ago)

So who is "m of m"?

Jacob (Jacob), Thursday, 3 March 2005 08:18 (twenty years ago)

I think my favorite recent track is Mathias Schaffhäuser's ' on Speicher 21.

I say 'think' because I'm not sure if it's that track, or the Steve Bug track. But it's the more straight-up dancefloor friendly one.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 3 March 2005 09:38 (twenty years ago)

Aha, just found a clip online - the track is called 'Nippon Jungle'. Destroys!

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 3 March 2005 09:51 (twenty years ago)

All these German labels really lose a level of mystique when you translate them to English:

Speicher = Memory
Auftrieb = Found
Trapez = Trapezoid
Traum = Dream (!!)
Areal = Area

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 3 March 2005 11:26 (twenty years ago)

dreck - dirt

hmmm (hmmm), Thursday, 3 March 2005 11:40 (twenty years ago)

Auftrieb = Found

actually auftrieb means cattle drive.

http://perso.wanadoo.fr/camping-pyrenees.natura/moutons.jpg

(and a bunch of other things but i like that translation best)

fe zaffe (fezaffe), Thursday, 3 March 2005 11:49 (twenty years ago)

Driving the cattle of the dancefloor?

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 3 March 2005 12:22 (twenty years ago)

So who is "m of m"?

a. Members of Mayday
b. Milk of Magnesia
c. Methods of Mayhem
d. Boris the Spider
e. Felix da Housecat
f. Rex the Dog

Two of these are correct (from what I am told)

Andy K. (ADK), Thursday, 3 March 2005 12:41 (twenty years ago)

Yes, Vision 04! It keeps on being awesome for a long time. I would like to hear this on a club system, someday.

W i l l (common_person), Thursday, 3 March 2005 15:02 (twenty years ago)

i wish vision 05 was as long as vision 04. both are killer. and i love love love the naum side of the naum/ferenc speicher. haven't felt the ferenc side as much.

I WILL NOT HAVE THIS NOBLE FLOWER MALIGNED.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Thursday, 3 March 2005 18:04 (twenty years ago)

Naum is such a one trick pony but it's very hard to blame him for it. I'd be rocking that trick to Doomsday too.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 4 March 2005 00:09 (twenty years ago)

sorry if this is common knowledge but i thought it was a neat factoid: naum is one-half of optimo!

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 4 March 2005 00:15 (twenty years ago)

I didn't know that!

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 4 March 2005 00:43 (twenty years ago)

Jonnie Wilkes. Also released the wonderful 'Red Cones' as Naum Gabo on one of the Colette compilations, unless I'm getting confused.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 4 March 2005 01:07 (twenty years ago)

And I didn't know that they were the same Naums! (there was a Naum Gabo remix "Take Me Out" wasn't there?)

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 4 March 2005 01:37 (twenty years ago)

yes

W i l l (common_person), Friday, 4 March 2005 02:14 (twenty years ago)

seriously? i will have to shake the man's hand when i see optimo this weekend! i can't count the number of times i've played 'ari'.

geeta (geeta), Friday, 4 March 2005 02:48 (twenty years ago)

The Ferenc side is great too! Sounds much better in a mix than on it's own though... I really like the way it sounds in between Narcotic Syntax's "Drumpads of Jericho" and "Pride is weaker than love"

Jacob (Jacob), Friday, 4 March 2005 03:22 (twenty years ago)

I have a "Take Me Out (Optimo mix)" too, that is not the same as the Naum Gabo mix. Someone couldn't get enough, huh? ;)

W i l l (common_person), Friday, 4 March 2005 03:24 (twenty years ago)

Ooh, I remember Wilkes releasing stuff on Kompakt, but I never quite put two and two together. I've got a Naum Gabo edit of a Ministry track here as well that's pretty great - I had assumed Naum Gabo was american (the Franz remix was US release only I think?).

MattR (MattR), Friday, 4 March 2005 06:33 (twenty years ago)

Naum's Ministry remix is on How To Kill The DJ Part One isn't it? As far as I recall anyway.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 4 March 2005 12:22 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, the Ivan Smagghe one from awhile ago. I'd love an unmixed copy to satisfy the inner Ministry fan, but I think it was a DJ only thingy a few years ago. Bah.

MattR (MattR), Friday, 4 March 2005 13:21 (twenty years ago)

optimo were so awesome last night, so many great tracks, the night felt WAY too short. naum told me that justus has done a whole ep of chic covers! has anyone heard about this?

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 4 March 2005 19:11 (twenty years ago)

There are three that I know of/have. They're more like bootleg mixes, no? (Science 2101, Science 2102, Science 2103)

DJ Face Down in the River (ADK), Friday, 4 March 2005 19:29 (twenty years ago)

Though I suppose they're not much different from the way he rips "Gimme Shelter" on "Shelter"

DJ Face Down in the River (ADK), Friday, 4 March 2005 19:31 (twenty years ago)

honestly andy, the details are sketchy, but that sounds like it could be right. anyway i had no idea! are they good?

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 4 March 2005 19:32 (twenty years ago)

They're fun(ny)

DJ Face Down in the River (ADK), Friday, 4 March 2005 19:34 (twenty years ago)

ok im confused. sopme online shops are selling speicher 25 and now 27, but no sniff of 26! anyone know whats happening?

ambrose (ambrose), Monday, 7 March 2005 21:22 (twenty years ago)

26 isn't out yet

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Monday, 7 March 2005 21:28 (twenty years ago)

Is that the one with Alter Ego?

JoB (JoB), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:08 (twenty years ago)

I was told Speicher 26 is going to be MATHEW JONSON / AXEL BARTSCH.

Tobias Rapp (Tobias Rapp), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:42 (twenty years ago)

Whoever Axel Bartsch is. I've never heard of him.

Tobias Rapp (Tobias Rapp), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:48 (twenty years ago)

27 comes out before 26???

teutonic craziness. The listing someone posted a while back said alter ego, kompakt-net.de says mat jonson

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 01:09 (twenty years ago)

may shed soem light

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 01:13 (twenty years ago)

I'm guessing it was probably a pressing problem that caused 27 to come out first. Or perhaps the recording of 27 was finished before 26.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 07:45 (twenty years ago)

three months pass...
speicher 28?

speciher 29?

i didnt buy 28, but 29 is prety brutal and mental. to all those that still dont belive that kompkat is bangin, then check this. maybe its not banging and more stomping*. whats up wioth alter ego? i never realyl dug rocker, but this tune on here, and his remix of losoul brain of glass which i picked up in bcn, are pretty mental tuff simplistic but apeshit tunes. crazy er...modulation or something, that thng where all the sounds just slowly change constantly thru out the tune. anyway, i thinmk alter egos on fire on the basis of these two tunes which are probably really old. i like 29.

keep up to date peopkle!

* you know when people say "X....is thebest ever thread on ILX"? well, this is EASILY the best evr ever thread. my favourite anyway.

ambrose (ambrose), Friday, 24 June 2005 10:41 (twenty years ago)

i really like 28. haven't heard 29 yet. mayer's track on 28 is the perfect 'segue into trance' track for sets. trance i say!

deru, Friday, 24 June 2005 21:14 (twenty years ago)

(BTW M of M are Members Of Mayday (Westbam & Klaus Jankuhn), it was the theme song of the Mayday festival)

Siegbran (eofor), Friday, 24 June 2005 22:32 (twenty years ago)

four months pass...
i just listened to justus köhncke's "sofort" again (the a-side of speicher 20, b-side was kozes "brutalga square") - why did everyone hate this back then? its brilliant! pounding spiralling phasing goodness

hh, Wednesday, 16 November 2005 21:41 (nineteen years ago)

It obviously got overshadowed by Brutalga, but I dig it too even it's unlike most of his other productions. That whirring sample is nicked from somewhere, yet I can't place it.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 16 November 2005 23:54 (nineteen years ago)

I often go back to the b-side after a few months of playing the A (or which ever side is the more obvious/popular side) to death. Did that with the axel bartsch one.

It has probably been discussed elsewhere, but the wighnomy's 'wombat' is lovely..

Bn1 (Bn1), Thursday, 17 November 2005 00:59 (nineteen years ago)

awesome accoustic thumbscrew!

c sharp major, Saturday, 4 August 2007 14:33 (eighteen years ago)

four years pass...

Is the first track of Voigt & Voigt's Speicher 69 ("Synthesize") sampling Talk Talk? It sounds like Mark Hollis but maybe I'm wrong. Good release, by the way.
