Making a mix for my friend...What songs would go well with these?

Cannibal Ox - Iron Galaxy
Atmosphere - Fuck You Lucy
MF Doom - Hoe Cakes
Mos Def - Hip Hop

I've got some others in mind, but I want to see what you guys come up with first.

Aesop Rock, "Labor Days" or "Battery"
Blackstar, "Astronomy"

And anything by Talib, the Arsonists, Blackalicious, Ghostface, etc. (steer clear of anything on anticon... i mean, i like anticon, but it might be a little out of place with the rest of these).

Azeem - Family Man
King Gheedorah - Antimatter

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 4 March 2005 04:03 (twenty years ago)

I am a designer, so I stare at a computer all day (and night). I listen to the streaming radio at Heavy.com from time to time and I heard Rok One there. It is actually a pretty good source for new hip-hop (indie not so much)

Now I am intrigued at this "Rok One" notion, and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

Cutty, next time yer passing fat blunts with Rok, let him know that his flow is tight and that he needs to release a full length..

Murs - Bad Man

I'm sorry, but this song does not get enough love- it was easily one of my favorite songs of 2k4....

Um? Sage Francis, maybe. I'd throw some Lyrics born in there for sure, and I second the above 8 point agenda recommendation. Paul Barman's "Cock Mobster", if you're willing to risk your friend not returning your calls for a while. Of course nothing goes better with indie hip-hop than the nasal stylings of MC Chris from adult swim. It should be noted that I prefer my mixtapes with a little bit of shock value...

On that note, if you want to work in some anticon, themselves is a safer bet than most.

RJD2? General Patton vs. the X-ecutioners? Prefuse 73? (All of the previous if yer willing to swing a bit towards the instrumental.)

I'm going to stop now before I do this all night...
