i can make shit get REAL noisy if i blast my stereo, my computer, my TV, my food processor, borrow an electric guitar from my neighbor's teenage kid and twang that shit and put it next to an amp, AND bang on my furniture with a hammer!

move to RI, you'll be famooose

JaXoN Hole (JasonD), Friday, 4 March 2005 06:34 (twenty years ago)

Not the same as listening to geniuses like RUDOLPH GREY

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 4 March 2005 06:38 (twenty years ago)

What's the point of trip hop when I can just listen to acid jazz?

polyphonic (polyphonic), Friday, 4 March 2005 06:41 (twenty years ago)

Because turning on all your noisy appliances doesn't come with a cool t-shirt.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 4 March 2005 06:44 (twenty years ago)

Because your microwave will never pull his dick out and say things like "don't get me wrong.. he's nice guy.. I like him just fine.. but he's a mouth breather".

Johnny Badlees (crispssssss), Friday, 4 March 2005 07:14 (twenty years ago)

You're confusing 'noise rock' with 'noise' (aka 'noise music')

Mike Dixn (Mike Dixon), Friday, 4 March 2005 16:49 (twenty years ago)

And your appliances can't start bothering you on AIM with long diatribes about how Satan wants it to become the president of USA and rant endlessly about Gerogerigegege now being for backpack-wearing scenester kids.

Øystein (Øystein), Friday, 4 March 2005 16:56 (twenty years ago)

Your appliances don't have dipshit retard fans who pretend that people who don't enjoy listening to appliances "don't like music"

olde english d, Friday, 4 March 2005 17:58 (twenty years ago)

do appliances come shrink-wrapped in a bag full of bugs or shark blood?

b b, Friday, 4 March 2005 20:24 (twenty years ago)

At first I thought the title of this thread said "NOSE ROCK" and I was trying to figure out what that might be. But yeah, noise rock is not the same as noise anyway. Noise rock is like what the Boredoms started out playing.

o. nate (onate), Friday, 4 March 2005 20:27 (twenty years ago)

You should worship appliances like they did in Rock and Roll High School Forever.

David Allen (David Allen), Friday, 4 March 2005 20:54 (twenty years ago)

Are there noise bands in Rhode Island?

adam.r.l. (nordicskilla), Friday, 4 March 2005 20:55 (twenty years ago)

there was a punk band from japan called laughing nose. they are nose rock!

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 4 March 2005 20:57 (twenty years ago)

adam.r.l. (nordicskilla), Friday, 4 March 2005 20:59 (twenty years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 4 March 2005 20:59 (twenty years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 4 March 2005 21:04 (twenty years ago)

adam.r.l. (nordicskilla), Friday, 4 March 2005 21:05 (twenty years ago)

i've already got good hair.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 4 March 2005 21:05 (twenty years ago)

I recorded the sound of a hoover vacuaming a tambourine once. I'm always jealous that radio static is more musically talented then me.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 4 March 2005 21:06 (twenty years ago)

jel = SO NOIZE

roffle

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 4 March 2005 21:07 (twenty years ago)

adam.r.l. (nordicskilla), Friday, 4 March 2005 21:07 (twenty years ago)

Anyway, post-Kyoto, I can't abide someone being so wasteful of energy as to leaving all their applicances running.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 4 March 2005 21:08 (twenty years ago)

otm.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 4 March 2005 21:12 (twenty years ago)

my computer runs on a hamster runing on a wheel.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 4 March 2005 21:12 (twenty years ago)

I recorded the sound of a hoover vacuaming a tambourine once.

you should send a tape of it to jon williams!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 4 March 2005 21:22 (twenty years ago)

"noise rock is not the same as noise anyway. Noise rock is like what the Boredoms started out playing."

so appliances > noise rock > noise, then. right?

olde english d, Friday, 4 March 2005 21:23 (twenty years ago)

I just a want to know how my appliances-sfb records fit into this

chris besinger (chris besinger), Friday, 4 March 2005 21:59 (twenty years ago)

so appliances > noise rock > noise, then. right?

so, how then do you explain einstürzende neubauten?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 4 March 2005 22:12 (twenty years ago)

I recorded the sound of a hoover vacuaming a tambourine once.
Ooph. I once wrote a song around having a small electronic alarm clock taped to my guitar so its tone got picked up in the amp.
It was fun to play around with, but my god did it suck!

Øystein (Øystein), Friday, 4 March 2005 22:25 (twenty years ago)

Eisbar you are a cock.

Ian John50n (orion), Friday, 4 March 2005 23:38 (twenty years ago)

Because there is always the unfortunate possibility that some of your appliances might be in the same key.

In fairness, I lurv the noisy noise, but it just seemed like too much of a cheap shot opportunity to pass it up.

my three-year-old can do that!
it looks like they just scribbled onto the canvas!
why can't they paint something real?
no one gets this shit! everyone just pretends they do to look cool!

three years pass...

so, right. later this month i'll be starting a weekly noise music column for an alt-weekly's blog in which i'll review three noise tracks, with one of them being a noise band from texas.

which brings me to why i've revived this thread: i don't know of any current noise bands from texas.

so: hip me to some noise bands from texas!

Fuckin A, my friend was playing some Rusted Shut tracks on his community radio show and they took my head off. Love it.

Trip Maker, Wednesday, 6 May 2009 16:39 (sixteen years ago)

There was a bootleggy lookin comp of their early stuff recently. Anyone hear it?

Also, for a sampler of recent Texas noise, there was the 'Texas' compilation on RRR not so long back.

GÖTT DAT SCHING (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Wednesday, 6 May 2009 17:00 (sixteen years ago)

maybe total abuse if your definition of noise rock is more like feedbacky, self-loathing hardcore.

Stop/Eject records is now based out of Austin, and has plenty of noise noise noise. Though it looks like they haven't put out anything in a year.
