in order to make use of all those seemingly superfluous numbers that the music industry is so fond of, i'm collecting equations. possibly for a website if it works. eg: (sum 41 x u2) + haircut 100 = blink 182 extra points for staying in-genre. labels and titles also considered. any contributions?????

Ah, my friend, the good people at PopLust have been doing this for years in the print zine, though I don't know if it's on the site itself. I say drop them a line.

here's a few attempts:

(Kid 606 / 808 State) - Beck's "One Foot in the Grave" = The Lower Third

Wire's "154" - Magnetic Fields' "69 Love Songs" - Suicide's "23 min over Brussels" - B-52s = Ten Pole Tudor.

(Sun Ra's "Rocket # 9" + Ornette Coleman's "Ornette at 12") / Anthony Braxton's "3 composition's of New Jazz" = John Zorn's "Filmworks vol. 7"

the last ones an attempt at staying with avant-garde jazz.

can you tell I'm bored?
