look into lou harrison's percussion stuff....

id give more clear advice if i could just get myself to follow it for myself. i heard an ensamble do a piece and it wa sexcellent. talked to the leader afterwards but only got enthusiasm, not pieces to buy.

What about recordings with Jamie Muir? He was a U.K. free improv percussionist who was actually in King Crimson for a short time.

quan ninh leads to gunetr muller, this is a classic.

will get vinko glokobar's works for percussion.

meanwhile, check max neuhaus on UBU.

gunter (must learn to spell). I think you're looking for percussionist that chruns out insistent chops, yet with a lightness of touch at certain points, a varesian care.

jamie muir...i have 'red' and have this item. would've been awesome to see him live but he disappeared, as so many do.

check tony oxley out too - '4 compositions...'

Thanks so much for the Neuhaus link, Julio. That shit is beautiful. The Feldman piece is so delicate I want to weep.

can we turn this into a Lê Quan Ninh search & destroy? I only have his solo disc Ustensiles and the Quatuor Helios Cage: Works for Percussion disc, but I love them both dearly. Anyone know any other good Ninh or Quatuor Helios stuff?

note to self to check in with those two recent Max Neuhaus reissues on Alga Marghen, as i loved the tympani-skin-feedback-as-radiation-therapy that was his Fontana-Mix cd.
