I remeber reading somewhere that Rod Stewart was dropped. But wouldn't tori amos being dropped have been covered more(i haven't heard about it anywhere), she just released an album in september.

I thought she had already signed to Epic and the covers album was a contract breaker.

Mariah Carey, alas (ironically, of course, ha ha). Elliott Smith, alas (for real).

David Raposa, Sunday, 13 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Elliott Smith, alas (for real).

...i thought he is still under contract to dreamworks but that they are letting him put his next album out on an indie, ala beck.

grrr....i give up on html:)

According to my sister, who saw him a few weeks ago, Elliot was drunk, terrible and wretched in concert. If I were Dreamworks, I would cut my losses.

Bowie

Dreamworks treat their artists like shit. But really, major labels are like banks. Elliott can go back to an indie and probably make more money.

"got my foot in door, god knows what for"

that's funny about mariah carey. paying her not to put out albums!

sonny tremaine, Sunday, 13 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And Wilco are back on an indie. I heard the new acetate of the album. It's beautiful.

Snowblind. I think they lasted on Heavenly for all of 1 single. Which is a crying shame, because the promos I've heard for the album are really rather good.

Wilco have signed to Nonesuch, a divison of Elekta Records via the fammed AOL Time Warner network. So being on Nonesuch means it's not such much a major label?
