Axl Rose in T-Rex "Rock On" and a couple The Who songs, too

Listen to the chorus of "Rock On" by T-Rex and tell me if that doesn't sound like Axl Rose going, "Rock on, yeah yea yea".

I've also heard this backup singer appear in The Who and a few other classic rock songs.

But since it's way back in the 70s we know it wasn't Axl.

Who was it?

I know Axl is said to copy Janis Joplin, but I doubt she was singing (or even still alive?) backup for these guys.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 4 March 2005 22:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, I love their harmonies at the end of "Love My Way."

billstevejim, Friday, 4 March 2005 23:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, that list doesn't include their work with Zappa?!

billstevejim, Friday, 4 March 2005 23:38 (twenty-one years ago)

The page lists that separately. Just go to the link and backtrack.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 4 March 2005 23:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, I never realized they sang on all of those T-Rex albums. Not to mention Strawberry Shortcake and the Care Bears!!!

walter kranz (walterkranz), Saturday, 5 March 2005 00:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah yes, the T Rex song I was talking about is "Slider", not "Rock On" as I previously lied. Awesome! I'm so glad I know now.

So, I guess Axl is copying Eddie, then, assuming Flo is a woman? What a fuckin' copycat! He sounds exactly like the guy!

Eleventy-Twelve (Eleventy-Twelve), Saturday, 5 March 2005 00:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmmm... The Who isn't listed, though.I'll listen to my one The Who album and tell you which song Axl appears in...

Eleventy-Twelve (Eleventy-Twelve), Saturday, 5 March 2005 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

assuming Flo is a woman?

Nope, a dude.

The Who isn't listed

Keith Moon is, though.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 5 March 2005 01:13 (twenty-one years ago)

But I don't have a Keith Moon album!

Eleventy-Twelve (Eleventy-Twelve), Saturday, 5 March 2005 01:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Kat says its time to stop talking about T-Rex

K the Killer, Saturday, 5 March 2005 01:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Didn't/don't Flo and Eddie stage concerts where they sing along with all those songs they performed on -- only they don't sing the lyrics, just their backup parts?

Stupornaut (natepatrin), Saturday, 5 March 2005 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

That's what I had heard somewhere once, but I know no further details.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 5 March 2005 04:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Flo was short for "the Phlorescent Leech." Of course.

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Saturday, 5 March 2005 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)
