was enjoying this disc earlier.

are there any discs documenting compositions for newly built instruments in a partch line and its not that he started this but I suppose when instrument builders/composers are thought of today, in so far as they are, he is the first who comes to mind...guess this ties in with my mictotonal thread from last year.

Hal Rammel!! He's one of my faves. He made this instrument he calls the "sound palette", it's like a painter's palette that he holds and plucks and bows. Totally great to watch him manipulate the thing live. He's created a bunch of things though. he also runs the Penumbra record label.

"Elsewheres", the very first penumbra release, is hugely enjoyable: similar effects that I happen to have heard on many other electroacoustic recs - despite the v diff instrumentation - re-appear on this set, but from the one listen, the pacing is generally slower, though I've not heard many electroacoustic records for a long while so maybe its not a v useful comment. But the pacing does give you more time to digest the form and shape, and it's the better for that.
