Question About Crunk

What other genres is crunk borrowing from, musically speaking? Is it just a logical offshoot of hiphop, or are there some shades of an obscure electronic movement I'm completely unaware of? Everything just seems more harsh in a crunk beat. And the use of cymbals is always interesting. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else could offer some insight into where crunk CAME FROM.

haha I like it how the person asking this question goes to ECU. I think that they ONLY listen to crunk over there. A little Tim McGraw too.

It's just hair metal thrash with a bassline and some (slightly) better lyrics.

crunk is the musical equivalent of getting plastered from the entire alcohol family -- right up to the part where you puke. which, when you examine the contents, is going to be a whole lot of everything.
