BOTH.

Well, NMH has released like 12 different albums since the last Royal Trux, and they just keep getting better (though I haven't heard the newest one yet). RTX...Transmaniacon has a few cool songs, but I'm not entirely sold on them yet.

Huk-L, Monday, 7 March 2005 18:26 (twenty years ago)

Can I say neither? I love Accelerator and Cats & Dogs, but I'm done with Neil and Jen apart from that.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Monday, 7 March 2005 18:45 (twenty years ago)

Neil's more prolific, interesting, and just plain better, but let me wait until Jennifer releases her book before I decide.

like AC and DC, like peanut and butter, the boogie without the yelp is like a dog w/o a bone.

dumb question - hagerty by a light year, for obvious reasons - dude is one of only about eight or nine actual musical geniuses I can think of offhand

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:06 (twenty years ago)

dumb answer, for obvious reasons

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:11 (twenty years ago)

I think I know which reasons.

roger adultery OTM

Stormy Davis (diamond), Monday, 7 March 2005 23:19 (twenty years ago)

yes, roger adultery is truly otm. all-night fox is, against great odds, hagerty's best album in years. he should be declining at this stage, but he's attained a new peak with this one. album of the year contender, for certain.

From howlinghex.com:

"If you are familiar with my earlier work: currently a counterfeit version of a band I folded in 2000 is making the rounds.
I have nothing to do with this, although they are attempting to give the impression that I do. I should add that I also have nothing to do with any White Lion reunion, contrary to recent bulk emails."

Add: Neil's funnier and has a better website than RTX.

SHe stood us up: she was stuck somewhere in Paris when she had to perform. :-(((

The RTX album is way way better, though I'm really impressed by the production on both, for totally different reasons. I think mainly I love Herrema's voice way better than Hagerty's voice (or even his guitar playing (!)), and since I'm not cool, I prefer Herrema's songy songs to Hagerty's riff-repeat songs. I am so seriously obsessed with the RTX album, STILL.

four months pass...
I heard "Delta Dawn" today and realized that Jennifer kind of sings like Tanya Tucker. (She's not as good a singer, tho.)

I actually dreamed last night that Hagerty and Herrema were the final act (not headlining; more like an afterthought) of an outdoor rock festival. (In the alternative present-day of this dream, they were still playing together very occasionally as Royal Trux, while also doing their solo stuff.) The car radio was broadcasting the festival live as we slowly drove onto the festival grounds, and the Trux were announced before we could get there (Neil made some kind of sarcastic comment from the wings that made it onto the air). But somehow I joined the small crowd just in time to see them start the first song. Neil was playing acoustic guitar, and Jennifer was, uh, still cool.
