A friend heard from a reliable source - i always assumed it meant heroin, but no! apparently it has something to do with a certain, err, obssession of Mr Eno's? Is this correct? If so - SO much more classic than a heroin reference.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:03 (twenty years ago)

Not knowing anything about Eno's obsessions, I would have guessed it was a reference to the jets in a jacuzzi. Is that it?

o. nate (onate), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:05 (twenty years ago)

warm jets of PISS?

jbr (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:06 (twenty years ago)

mark s (mark s), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:07 (twenty years ago)

there's a dirty picture playing card of a woman pissing right on the cover, yeah.

The Argunaut (sexyDancer), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:07 (twenty years ago)

Also, supposedly the cover of ANOTHER GREEN WORLD shows a woman about to be pissed on. Gross!

Mr. Snrub, Monday, 7 March 2005 22:08 (twenty years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:10 (twenty years ago)

I always assumed it was urine (or maybe I heard it was.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:11 (twenty years ago)

airplanes?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:12 (twenty years ago)

This calls for some kind of Eno / R Kelly / Chuck Berry supergroup.

walter kranz (walterkranz), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:12 (twenty years ago)

i think this is the foaf-legend of choice!! i reread it like every three years from someone's "friend who heard from a reliable source"

maybe it is true and i am just jaded

mark s (mark s), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:13 (twenty years ago)

So what's "Tiger Mountain" then?

o. nate (onate), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:16 (twenty years ago)

JaXoN Hole (JasonD), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:19 (twenty years ago)

Stormy Davis (diamond), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:19 (twenty years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:19 (twenty years ago)

(x-post)People still think that!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:19 (twenty years ago)

my memory is there's an interview on Enoweb post-hospital stay/"ambient" music epiphany where he fesses up to the golden showers allusion (and discusses how he came up with various lyrics, etc.) I'm not gonna bother trying to hunt it down now tho.

Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 7 March 2005 22:25 (twenty years ago)

Pretty easy to find the reference in this piece/interview:

Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 7 March 2005 22:33 (twenty years ago)

I want Mark to come back and admitt he is jaded!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:34 (twenty years ago)

bah i am all disappointed now, like finding out the "hook in the door" story is true and happened in westphalia in the 1950s

this wz much more fun when it wz a chinese whisper

mark s (mark s), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:34 (twenty years ago)

Yeah except that it never WAS a chinese whisper! That NME interview came out same time as the album itself and was there for all to see.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 7 March 2005 22:38 (twenty years ago)

In his prime Eno was quite the sex fiend, I've read. As in multiple partners throughout the day. There's some interview with him by Chrissie Hynde where he comes off particularly sleazy, if I recall correctly.

Josh in Chicago (Josh in Chicago), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 01:36 (twenty years ago)

"I think that bands like Yes and E.L.P., even The Floyd who everyone's saying are the beginning of something new and exciting - the new rock tradition - are just tying up a lot of loose ends.

"They're finishing something off which is a useful function, but not one which should be confused with breaking new territory."

Plateux of Mirror, Tuesday, 8 March 2005 01:42 (twenty years ago)

I always thought this was pretty obvious. I guess I'm a pervert.

dronez are not ours to eat, dronez are not ours to wear (smile), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 01:58 (twenty years ago)

Next thing you'll be telling me that After the Heat and My Life in the Bush of Ghosts mean something freaky-deaky.

ffirehorse (firehorse), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 01:59 (twenty years ago)

What is he saying at the end of the title track? I always thought he was saying "waiting to pee", hence warm jets.

kornrulez6969 (TCBeing), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 04:36 (twenty years ago)

Judging from the year's worth of diary entries he published, he's seriously into female bodybuilders.
